Oh come on. It was well below her usual standards but it was nowhere near as bad as a fat man pulling up his shirt, wobbling his bits about and calling it 'comedy'.

EastEnders rating was good i guess as the BBC3 reapt did well and out of it's usual slot(1030pm)

Am surprised how low Corpse Bride was. Feel a bit sorry for ITV.
Lately they have been putting some half decent films on, and no one watches them. It was ok for ads as well, didn't have too many like some films on ITV have. The majority of films on ITV1 over Christmas are movie premieres as well which is nice to see.

I'm worried for them today now. I have a bad feeling The Polar Express and Happy Feet won't do well either. I guess most people just always watch BBC 1 over Christmas.

I will be watching them anyway. Probably in a minority here, but ITV's films are more appealing to me this year than BBCs.

Awful for The Corpse Bride against a repeat. It's at times like this that I'm not surprised ITV give up at Christmas.

The soaps seem low still - surely 8m was a respectable average for the summer a couple of years ago? Coronation Street is suffering from the hour longs placed against the soap hour - at the very least it needs to be swapped round.

Taggart held up well enough. I thought it'd get over 4m. Victoria Wood won the slot comfortably, with My Family dented - obviously down to the soaps. Shrek 2 did excellently.

Yet again, Merry Christmas all.

Dr Who will probably come out on top because it has been advertised so heavily. Dont know how many times they have shown the promo for it. EE will come close second.

Excellent Christmas Eve for BBC One, afternoon and evening, and a special mention for Taggart's decent rating despite what was a spectacularly inappropriate Christmas Eve slot.

I gave Victoria Wood a miss, as I did in 2000. I learnt my lesson from her All Day Breakfast in 1992.

Happy Christmas to one and all.

At least that sketch made me smile.

Well I got a few laughs out of VW it just wasn't as good as her earlier stuff.

Horne and Corden was unsophisticated rubbish and just reaffirmed my belief that Ruth Jones is the driving force behind Gavin and Stacey.

It could be a close run thing between Doctor Who and EastEnders for the highest rated programme of the day. On instinct, I would say the promotional blitz and curiosity factor should propel DW to about 12.0m. EastEnders has a weaker lead-in than in 2007/8 - but also, I think, substantially weaker opposition than last year too. Still, at an hour in length, it would do tremendously to break 12m, and given yesterdays numbers, I don't anticipate it.

Emmerdale is really in for a pummelling tonight, but I think Corrie could do better. Strictly Come Dancing is likely to be a little down, and I think the soap might well get the better of it this year - it'll be close, somewhere in the 8m zone.

I'll be interested to see how the comedy performs tonight, too. I guess The Royle Family might be perhaps a million down on last year (which was the first episode in some time and had real curiosity about it). Gavin and Stacey is pretty untested in such a prominent slot and with such a strong lead-in. I'd guess it could well retain much of the Royle inheritance - perhaps at 7-7.5m.

It got over 7 million last Christmas Eve so I reckon it will comfortably clear that tonight as I cant see many of the 9 million+ watching the Royle Family deciding to watch the last hour of Poirot after missing the first half.

Doctor Who 2nd trending on Twitter.

I thought it was quite a relatively poor episode actually (compared to previous season finale part ones), but acknowledge it was build-up for the apocalyptic finale on New Year's Day.

I think it was 60 minutes as I think it ran 17:58-18:58. I'm sure they'll be running late again in time for The Royle Family though.

It was rubbish! An insult to Tennant's Doctor.

Yes I know this is the ratings thread...

It wasn't a terrible episode (though my entire family did fall asleep) but that ending was hysterically awful! Still it was good trashy television for Christmas Day and I hope it'll do well.

It was quite weak considering the hype, but I think RTD is a generally poor writer anyway.

It was mostly boring as hell but the ending was funny. It takes itself far too seriously, though, as most people who I know watch it because it's a bit of fun on a Saturday night, not because it's some wonderful, award worthy drama that we should all bow before because of it's bold and deep storylines like some of its fans do. The ending was great, but it was hardly quality drama, just lively fun for the whole family (which the preceeding 55 minutes wasn't).

He is certainly capable and has shown this in past episodes. I disagree with RTD-bashing but this episode was absolutely rubbish.
