The mistake ITV made was starting it 30 minutes earlier, because if it was on from 20:00 to 21:30, it would have averaged
16.13m (54.1%) - had it been on from 20:00 to 22:00, it would have averaged higher probably.
Removing commercials from last night's final, I get about 16.15m. Timeshift I'm guessing it may be near 16.5m.
The Susan Boyle Story will end up in the Top 10 at the end of the year.
