It will beat 2005 and 2006, but lose out in the past 2 years.
Yes, it gets 40% because of what has become of its formulaic and extremely bland line-up which nowadays consists of:
1) Doctor Who
2) Strictly Christmas Special
3) EastEnders
4) [insert comedy here]
There's no variation, no attempt to change the schedule... effectively its the same 4 things. I like Doctor Who, and I like EastEnders... but it needs a bit of a remix.
The schedule kills the competition... why do you think ITV don't try? They tried a Dancing on Ice Christmas Special last year, got 9m regular series; got 5m last Christmas.
Viewers for whatever reason, for the past few years, are starting to choose BBC One on Christmas Day by default.
Even if ITV rolled out all their big hitters, BBC One would still win. Guaranteed.”
If it's not broke,Why try to fix it?
Dr who and EastEnders will allways been on BBC1 xmas day the same as ITV with Emmerdale and Corrie
I think the only shows ITV can show to compete against BBC would be Xf and BGT(But will they be as big this time around?)Corrie and maybe DOI which as lost out to Enders before on xmas day.
I think the BBC could add a little more comedy in the first half though
5pm Classic Comedy(Only fools,One foot ect)
530 My Family
630 EastEnders
7pm SCD
8pm Dr who
9pm Comedy/quiz show
930pm EastEnders
10pm Comedy/film to end the night
