The cost of the rights will plummet now, so it shouldn't be too big an issue. Endemol will just want the show commissioned! The celeb budget is supposed to be £1m spread over about 25 hours works out at just £40k per hour.
There is a risk of reading too much into the launch night numbers. If this series follows the path of the past few, we'll all be mocking the ratings by the end of the week!
I hope that isn't the situation, though. The highlights show was actually pretty good. There's always a risk of people just dismissing it as "just a repeat of last night" but some of the awkward interaction between the housemates was fantastic. It looks like a good cast based on tonight. I'm delighted that they don't have a "loud, gobby one" but there's always the risk that they will be too guarded or just there for the cheque (a factor which killed CBB6).

Usually there is a dip at 11pm. They run the last ad break and people don't come back because it's usually just a very short section.
I also think that missing the 10pm junction is a dreadful idea. Lots of people were watching TV at 9pm tonight, BB should have been starting just in time to pick them up.
