What about those in northern France, Belgium and Holland who watched SCD on BBC1? It is well known that the BBC services are particularly popular in the low countries, indeed, the popularity of darts in Holland is said to be entirely down to Dutch viewers picking up BBC transmissions from the Lakeside over the years.

I like Countryfile. I'm 33.
What makes you think it's "granny fodder"? Antiques Roadshow, possibly, but a country affairs magazine show?

Well, it's moved back to 6pm now Lark Rise is starting and AR has gone back to 7pm. So I imagine it will be at 6pm for some time to come. Wasn't it airing at 6pm when it first got promoted to prime time last year?

It was rubbish, I didn't expect a 30 min live simulcast with the news channel, complete with news banner too!
I missed the first 5 mins or so, but it was half an hour of talking heads. They could have tried to make some sort of hastily-cobbled together documentary, full of people slipping and sliding about, and lots of winter wonderland scenes - that's what we're all tuning in to see. I don't really want a 5 minute interview with the Barnsley NHS Trust Chief Exec telling me they've had 188 broken bones since it snowed. Whoopie-doo.
I thought this might approach 10m, but not now - half that will be a good result. I do think the latest YBF compilation repeat will do very well, possibly near 10m, and end up one of the most-watched shows of 2010 probably.
And I wouldn't be surprised if Lion Country outrates Nigel Slater's hasty repeat. The former is new, the latter only aired a few weeks back and rated well first time round.
I wouldn't be surprised if BBC Regional News 6.30 is top-rated show of the night, not that BARB will ever recognise that officially.
