Well I'm assuming there's some big donors out there. The lead on itunes is far too ridiculous to be real now, double and X factor winner?? And it's constantly increasing like WTF??

Why should he be devastated though? Its not like he's done any hard work apart from appear on telly in front of people.

Bands/artists that sit there composing their own music, writing lyrics then playing their instruments - that's hard work. Not some stupid tv show that makes a mockery out of music and gives them a pretty much guaranteed number one essentially shitting on the bands/artists who have worked hard.

If the xfactor had them compose their own song and sing it then i would be a bit more impressed. But this is just more manufactured crap.

Here we go again! For goodness sake give it a rest. Joe is 18 - he has just left school/college and there is no way he could go round the pubs and clubs trying to make a career. He has the best voice there has been on X-Factor and, in time, will be a very good artist. Singing live on television for how many weeks is not easy. Especially with all the hype and such which surrounds the programme.

This is exactly the same thing that happened with Will Young and he is still doing fine - four multi-platinum albums many sell-out tours.

People seem to be buying both songs for 'political' reasons. Does anyone actually like either of them enough to have bought them had it not been for it being an X Factor single or a protest single?
Will anyone seriously play The Climb over and over because they think it's so great? Ditto RATM ?

I think the majority would probably answer in the negative. I think Joes's a cracking little singer but the song is an insult to both him and the audience. Absolutely the lowest common denominator and no effort put into his song choice at all.

Why not ?

That is what most artists do who want to break into the industry. They graft and they pay their dues singing in pubs and clubs and anywhere that will have them.

The fact that he's "18 and just left school/college" is irrelevant. He entered a talent show and won it, so he got to leapfrog all of the other artists who are working their backsides off trawling up and down the country trying to make names for themselves.

I'm sure he will be devastated if his "career-on-a-plate" stalls at the first hurdle but I certainly won't feel sorry for him.

Give what a rest? That was my first post on the matter.

I couldn't care less what age he is nor if he has just left school/college. If he's any decent artist which i doubt, he would have worked his way up instead of popping on the xfactor to get the obvious, always shite number one.

See i disagree. He warbles far to much. Got a childlike voice and needs much more training on his voice before he goes anywhere. i think Lucy had a beautiful voice yet she got voted off. Con if ever i saw one.

No its not but its nothing compared to what normal everyday artists do, you know work themselves up from the bottom.

Yeah he is because he ditched the stupid manufactured music and went his own way. But the difference is he can sing and can sing well, puts emotion into the song which joe lacks seriously.

And that means he should automatically get to no:1?

Strange logic there.

I am sure she didn't mean that. What she means I think is that he is just starting out in the business and deserves to get the breaks. With a lovely voice like he has he will be fine but this stupid campaign is ridiculous.

He is 18 as has been mentioned on numerous occasions. He has sung in various venues but cannot in all honesty possibly be grafting in pubs and clubs - he was still at school!

Some people are dreaming.

I don't deny that he can sing. He has a decent voice.

He isn't going to make an impact on the music scene, though. He will flop in a couple of years. Perhaps even less.

He's getting ''the breaks'' he's been on a TV show thats literally a 4 month advertisment campaign for his single. Why would anyone feel sorry for him? He's in a great place right now.

I hate this asumption that just because he's won X Factor the xmas No1 spot should be his, why should it? If he doesn't get it his world won't crumble around him, Simon Cowels might a little *snigger* but Joe will be fine. He's young, if he's as talented and as hard working as you say he is then he'll do well regardless of weather or not he has a xmas No1.

It's about time we had an uncertain xmas No1, it used to be a big part of xmas, watching TOTPs trying to guess who it was going to be. The X Factor spoiled it and I want it back! Apparently lots of other people do too which makes me...

So what getting number 2 means he is a failure then?

Wow... I didnt know that!

No, he doesn't deserve anything. He's done nothing to deserve a break in the industry.

(i'm not having a rant at you personally gill, just using your quote ..)

He hasn't bundled into the back of a transit van and driven hundreds of miles to a gig in a working men's club.

He hasn't stayed up night after night writing lyrics.

He hasn't worked in a crappy job day after day just so he can pay his rent while he performs night after night for peanuts.

All he's done is won a talent show - a career-on-a-plate.

It's a smack in the face of the real artists who are working their arses off in the hope of getting a break to say that he deserves one.

But then I guess it's indicitive of our nation's youth - their idea of acheiving success in the music industry is winning the x-factor and not actually working for it.

There is a downside.

He's unlikely to ever be credible, he'll never really be seen as 'cool' by the masses.

Yes, he might make a few quid off the back of it, but otherwise, I'd say the x-factor is a good way to RUIN a persons career.

Completely agree. All these people saying he deserves it and Cheryl Cole saying she would be 'devastated' for Joe to not get the #1 and Joe himself saying he would be 'gutted'... pathetic and arrogant.

Gutted to get your debut single (of course which you have no creative input at all, just singing the song given to you) to number 2!!! Nothing against Joe but I really hope he loses, so next time the x factor finalists don't think its their right to have an automatic Christmas number one.

This is what annoys me, they all think they have a right to an automatic number 1. Pure arrogance.
