I don't think that they should be allowed do a Charleston instead of a Latin. Even if they were to do Charleston, I don't think it would have the same impact as it did first time.

A Charleston-style showdance would be a better option if they want to go down that road.

well sort of a response from RW - I asked if they were doing the QS and Cha Cha Cha and he's tweeted

"We have listened to the public & what they want us to dance for final,as they got us there,we dance for them.hope we do u proud, thanks again"

It says on some threads that the couples will be doing four dances.

Showdance, lindyhop and...???

Is it now confirmed that they're allowed to do this one?

That sounds fairly positive that they'll be doing the QS and the cha cha cha then. Makes sense as they have been their best dances - apart from the Waltz but they did that last week.

Still haven't heard for definite if Chris & Ola are being allowed to do the Charleston.

In entirely unrelated to SCD matter, I would just like to state I dislike that Lacey woman lots *stares at her with narrowed eyes and a long memory*

Ican't see Cola wanting to do Charleston as one of their dances as I expect their showdance will involve a lot of Charleston moves.

I did dislike her on SYTYCD, but she's grown on me in the last few series of DWTS. I thought she was good with Steve-O, considering, and Mark D was robbed! : )

Sorry for the interruption

They should be made to do the same dance to the same music with the same choreography and with the same camera angles. Therefore making it easier than ever to see who is best.

Charleston is in the USA.

Technically Latin is actually Latin American (hence why Jive is in this category), so I think Charleston could come in the American side of Latin American

I find that surprising...if it's true. I was expecting a Charleston themed showdance from them.

Chris was on BBC Breakfast on Monday saying that they had asked if they could do their charleston in the final. As far as I know there hasn't been any confirmation about whether or not they will be doing it.

Latin America is another name for South America though (more specifically the parts which speak a romance language). The empasising of the "America" part to include the jive seems a false etymology to me - is jive not just included in the "latin" classification because it fits the criteria of the latin dances?

No, technically the full name was Latin and American, to encompass both.

That would mean the BBC actually thinking about the Final.

I actually think it would be in Chris' best interest NOT to do The Charleston, but to perform a Charleston-style Showdance.

The earlier dances of the night aren't as critical as the Showdance, so save the best til last I say!

And me Charleston style show dance and reprise the Samba or the Paso....afterall whatever they do its for the public and not the judges as they make no difference what so ever in the final....might aswell have 5 dummies instead .......oh silly me think thats what we have got isnt it.

Well, if you want to make it a rather monotonous spectacle that is only really going to appeal to those who appreciate intricacies of technique then, yes they should.

We already know who is technically the better dancer - we don't need to see them perform exactly the same dances side by side to do that and as regards performance, the same routine from both of them would simply provoke the same technique v entertainment argument that has been going on for weeks.

I think maybe you mean that they should adopt your suggestion to give them the best chance of making Chris look like the poorest of poor relations by giving him routines that will emphasise his technical shortcomings and give him little chance to flaunt his performing ability?

It's usually their highest scoring ballroom and latin dance. So it will be those plus the lindyhop and a showdance.
