Sagem DTR94250S
Been testing this freesat PVR over the weekend, not too impressed.
The fan is very noisy and seems to run continually. It locked up after about an hour outputting only audio (somethings never change) Volume controls are very coarse menus and controls are very fiddly Some remote buttons do not do any thing One recording have few seconds missing Buffer max is +/-5 minutes No optical audio output Adding non free sat channels in terrible, they have to be added manually. All the channel on each frequency have to be added, undesirable channels can only be hidden and not deleted. But there is a timer function to record. acp |

You bought it, set it up and found a whole load of problems. It's a pity you didn't do a more thorough search as someone on another site went out and bought one of these boxes and immediately posted about all the problems. Very similar list to yours. I'm quite curious as to how you managed to get a weekend of testing in between 11:15 today when you were "seriously considering buying" and 13:50. |

Could it be that acppca27 is now seriously considering the Goodmans rather than the Sagem which he has found problems with over a longer period?
I would add that if either of these brands had provided diseqcontrol I too would have been closer to a purchase. I like the fact you don't have to switch modes to get from freesat to non-freesat channels but it's no use having easier non-freesat if you are stuck with 28.2E. |

Yes I bought the Sagem on Friday evening and am now considering the Goodsman instead. That fan is driving me totally crazy ![]() I agree I should have done more research on this Desperation kicked in, been running on freesat tv no record facility for a while now. acp |

I was originally going to buy the Humax, but then I discovered the lack of non-freesat recording functions, I changed my mind.
Its a tricky one

I am almost certain Pannasonic can record programs from other sattelite menu, except everything I know of
I would rather not put on my hard disc, no Disqe control is available though If you are interested let me know & I will prove it for certain. |

Well I read the manuals and still no wiser. It looks as if you might be able to see non-freesat channels in freesat mode but in the absense of an epg how are you going to schedule a recording. There's no mention that I can see of a manual timer setting capability.
I doubt it can pull of the recording two viewing 3rd (in some cases even live buffer the third giving time shifting capability). No way to use with only 1 cable either. What usb archiving capability does it have ? The hdr now has unlimited archiving for SD and BBC HD. |

![]() If a certain non free sat channel has a program on every Tuesday night at 8:00pm then I could set up a reoccurring timer for this. Most channels have schedules on their websites. |

Anyway back to the sagem, it lost the ability to pause / play live tv today, another power reset was required.
(3 days 2 resets), oh the joy |

It gets even better!
No Instant record on non free-sat channels
No Deferred record on non free-sat channels Timed records on non free-sat channels create files with file name "unknown" and no details. You can not rename them to something meaningful. Its time for the box and receipt I thinks.

did you return it in the end?
Is the fan on even in standby? is "digital audio out" not optical out then? or are they different? manual says the buffer can be 1 or 2 hours not 5 mins? have you stuck with it or bought something new? |
