I'd get arrested if I walked around in what I wear to bed.

There are definately some areas where this is "normal", Liverpool being one. My cousin lives there for uni and she reports its very common, so much so that she barely notices anymore. People actually go to the pub in their PJs too, no joke!

I went to the paper shop in my slippers once, wouldn't you know two hot girls from my year happened to be walking down my road that Sunday morning.

I've seen the occasional person but it's not common where I live so we all had a good laugh.

They have been doing it in Scouserland for years. I first saw it about 10 years ago when I was teaching. I had to get a Mum in for an interview about her naughty son. Half way through the interview I noticed the little yellow Teddybears on her pink PJ bottoms. I had to swiftly leave the room with my fist in my mouth.

A couple of girls I lived with last year sometimes popped to Tesco in pj bottoms. I've also seen a girl wearing them in the middle of Chester city centre.
To be perfectly honest they can look good on the right person if worn the right way. Actually thinking about it I've walked my dog in pj bottoms in broad daylight. |

This must be the modern equivalent of the housecoat. You don't see them any more do you? Instead of getting dressed smartly, then putting a dodgy nylon thing over it all to keep it clean, these people have obviously decided it's more economical in time and money to simply not get dressed.

I will pop down to the store and get some milk or something in my pyjamas (especially if it is something I need for breakfast I will not bother getting dressed first). But I will have a jacket or coat on top anyway, so I don't think anybody can really notice that I'm wearing pyjamas, just looks like I'm in a tracksuit or something.
In any case, I don't see what the problem is here; personally I probably would never do a long shop in my pyjamas (only for the very quick things, when I'm in and out of the store in 5 minutes), but if people want to go shopping (or to the pub) in their pyjamas I think it's totally fine. In fact, I sometimes think that most clothes are way too limiting. A friend told me that in Rio de Janeiro everybody walks around in their bathing suit (even in the city centre) and that has always sounded like such an appealing idea. If it was hot enough in Britain maybe I would definitely wear my bikini to Sainsbury’s. |

I've never seen anyone out and about in their PJs, don't think it's common where I live at all. You'd get loads of funny looks and some comments I reckon.
