why's Jazmine Sullivan not bigger?
R&B is really boring these days. She's a breath of fresh air.. oh well

She's quite big in America is she not? I like her song Bust Your Windows.
She has had zero marketing in UK |

She's got a few good songs but her album isn't very consistent. Dream Big and Bust Your Windows could be huge though.

she's the girl who sang that Daft Punk-sampling 'Dream Big' song isn't she? i thought that song was alright but i've not heard anything else from her. like someone else said, it's probably lack of marketing.

Her music isn't radio friendly, that's why.
Her album was brilliant, however. "Lions, Tigers and Bears" is fantastic. |

"Lions Tigers and Bears" is better than anything Leona et al have ever done.. so much emotion, blew me away when I first heard that and I'm not big on R&B at the moment.

It's not the case Jazmine is very good. Her album is amazing. She reminds me of Alicia Keys but with an edge.
I always find the few actual good artists are the ones who don't often see huge success |

She is brilliant and 'Bust Your Windows' and 'Lions, Tigers And Bears' are two of this year's best tracks.
And, way, WAY, WAY better than all the auto-tuned rubbish flooding out of the US and all the tragic 'UK R&B' (which has about as much to do with R&B as Rage Against The Machine). Shame on her record company for not promoting her - it's a disgrace! |

her album was the best of last year as far as i'm concerned, just beating taylor swift by a tiny margin
the reason she isn't as successful is simply because she isn't a skinny hot looking chick like rihanna that can make sexy videos and be a poster babe for teenagers give her some time like mary j blige and she'll maybe make it bigger |

She sampled Daft Punk on her tune that was on Capital quite a lot, some things are sacred.

And that's all there is to it.
I disagree. I first heard her on Trevor Nelson's Radio 2 show and she sounded mighty fine on the radio to me ...

You can be the best singer in the world but if you don't have the material to match your voice you won't get very far. The material she has now is not going to interest the masses but maybe attracting the masses is not what she is after ?
What she doesn't have is any corporate muscle behind her because she doesn't 'fit in' to any current stereotype. Which is strange because I thought (naively, obviously) that the music industry might be interested in promoting artists who might be distinctive and original ... |

I discovered her album a while ago and I loved it, it's sad she doesn't get anyone recognition in the UK.

She'll make a small dent in the i Tunes chart sometime between mid January and the beginning of Feb depending on the air date as there's a great version of "Bust your windows" in the third episode of "Glee".

Her music doesn't have a hot beat and robot voices and all that jazz.
I don't think her intention is to be one of those girls who dances in hardly nothing in the music videos over a catchy song that people will forget in ten years time. |
