Dying my hair lighter?
Hi, my current hair colour is currently this shade of auburn and i would like to either dye it this colour or this one but i am worried that they may be too light to apply withought pre lightening my hair. I have naturally light brown hair with a reddish tinge and also have some growth at the roots. Any advice about how to go about dying it lighter?

It's tricky because if you have reddish hair then dying can go horribly wrong because of pigment interaction or something.
You would need to pre-lighten the hair to get it lighter sadly, although there are some dyes out there that have built in pre-lightener although I doubt they'd have your colour. |

Can I jump on this post to ask my own question? I'd like to make my medium brown hair a little bit lighter and thought something like this would be good http://www.blonde.schwarzkopf.com/pr...for-dark-hair/ but I can't seem to find it for sale anywhere.
Does anyone know what would be best to use to lighten hair a couple of shades but not let it get orange? I could do a strand test to check the timing but there's so many different products I'm a bit confused. I'm not going to the hairdressers because it takes too long and costs too much, I'm happy to do it at home thanks. |
