I wasnt sure if his subdued appearance was real or an act but either way he is beginning to whiff of John Sergeant. It wouls have been less embarrasing for him if he'd left around quarter finals stage.

I agree, it's obvious Chris is the son of Satan, and that Ola is his evil side kick
Why don't you e-mail/phone up and let him know how you feel?

Trunkster, it's not often I find myself agreeing with you to be honest, but in this case I definitely do!

They should lock him and Ola in a radio studio all day fielding back to back calls from posters on here who want to tell him how he's ruined the competition / the British justice system / their lives.

That'll sort the "problem" out

The situation Chris finds himself in was always likely to happen after Jade withdrew and a 2 person final was on the cards and he must have thought through how to deal with it.

When Laila left after the QF, she in effect said she would've been embarrassed to have gone further as she accepted she was the worst of the four. Chris and Ricky are now in position of having knocked out a very good dancer who had the sweetest persona.

In some ways, for Chris, the momentum shift to Ricky is the worst case scenario - male rival with a storyline of a sudden connection with an audience previously seemingly oblivious to his & his partner's charms. Chris's dances in the semi had almost zero impact - not terrible but certainly not memorable.

I don't think Chris had any choice but to be humble initially this week - brand Cola would have been totally inappropriate last night - I'm not suggesting it was fake either - he seems a decent and empathetic bloke and his reaction is what most decent minded individuals would feel.

I think Team Cola might just rear its head again as the week progresses though - and indeed why shouldn't it (?) - that and the Charleston are Cola's USPs.

Its the production who are at fault .They saw it coming and had ample time to have a three person final
They didnt and now they have this situation , with all three int he final it would have been a wonderfull show .

All three should have benn in the final”

Can I just say I agree so much. I do think the BBC should have had a contingency plan (and i would have liked to see Ali and Brian's showdance - we should have started a proper petition).

However, I also agree that the people that post all that rubbish are to blame, everyone is responsible for their own actions.

Oh I fully agree that the posters are at fault , even those who hint at a marketing ploy . Everyone must take responsibilty . My point was that these people are everywhere and more likety to surface now .

Oh do give it a rest. Chris can dance and as Brian said today on BBC Breakfast he has worked hard and earned his place in the final. This is getting very boring.

What do you want SCD to do - only open the competition to trained dancers? Hold on, then it would be Come Dancing!

Sorry my second sentence was not directed at you, but was an agreement with Three left feet. I should have made that clearer. I don't know how to quote two different quotes.

I never thought you didn't think that I thought......

And this backlash, what form will it take? People will storm his sports reports on Breakfast TV waving placards? Football crowds will organise chants of 'Ricky woz Robbed', snooker players will deliberately line up the balls to say the same, you'll write to your MP, OFCOM, Points of View, Ban Ki-moon* and Nelson Mandela.

Or maybe, most people will enjoy a nice Saturday night watching two couples who've worked hard entertain us, whilst a few people will whine and winge on a couple of forums, that he probably doesn't read, for a couple of weeks and then it's all forgotten.

My goodness, the horror

This is getting beyond silly. Why on earth would he "put on an act" to "gain sympathy"?

At the end of the day it's a Saturday night reality tv show, the ultimate aim of which is to win a cheap, plastic, glitterball

Or just preferable for you because your favourite might still be in then?

Why on earth should he have left?

And why is he 'whiffing of John Sergeant'?

Of course you are entitled to your opinion but this post rather looks like a case of sour grapes ... And if you really want to believe that it is all an act, that is of course your prerogative - but I suspect you will find yourself in a minority.

Everyone, not least the producers, should be concerned if Chris doesn't get his mojo back as it's going to make for a very lacklustre final if he doesn't.
What name??

I don't think you are taking this seriously enough. Some woman has told Chris that his leaving over Ali ruined her weekend. Clearly this means she is demented and may next try a suicide bombing! Can it be any clearer? I think you are lacking a sense of the enormity of this event and need to put things in perspective. It has made him sad. What can be worse than downward gurning?

I don't think they'll get much sympathy writing to him, apparently he's a Ricky fan who thinks Chris did a great job getting rid of the competition in time for the final

And I'm sure I heard that Nelson had a twenty quid accumulator - Craig to make Blackpool, Anton to dance with his celeb in December, and Chris to win, so he really isn't going to be reading those letters!

BTW, thanks Agent Krycek for putting who Ban-ki-moon is - knew the name, just couldn't place the person and it would have been bothering me all day!

BTW2 - OP, I've seen some insults to Chris on hear but whiffing of John Sergeant - how low can you go.

Neither thought I'd see the day, Bhoy compared to Nelson Mandela

I'm sure Chris is genuinely sorry for Ali and Brian. However, whether he said so or not, he'd have been damned either way with some folk (either for insincerity for saying so, or for an apparent complete lack or remorse if he hadn't).

The final will be a great technical dancer and performer versus someone who has learnt to dance better than most of us and entertained many of us in the process. I may be alone in this view and I am sorry we have lost some other good potential finalists along the way for various reasons, but nonetheless, I'm quite happy with that.

Exactly. The people on here seem to be taking this show a lot more seriously than the contestants do. Yes they don't want to leave but when they do they will get over it in a day or two. To read the remarks on here you'd think it was life or death rather than a TV show.

this kind of thing leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, Chris and Ola should be really enjoying their time and celebrating their accomplishment of getting through to the final but nasty people with nasty comments bring everyone down, they are through to the final fair and square so get over it!

What you mean ONE person ... ONE person didn't worship at the feet of Cola and suddenly he's down about it.

It doesn't ring true .. he knows he is the favourite .. I've heard them discuss it on breakfast TV so it's just arrogance to presume that everyone is going to be happy about his win through to the final.

But, it sure has given him the one thing that was lacking so top marks there.

Chris does NOT discuss it on breakfast.......Bill (who knows how strictly voting works) has talked about him getting a lot of support because he was never in the dance off, but Chris himself has never ever ever said any such thing.

Ali and Brian would be rightly ashamed and annoyed at any any of their fans that did such a thing. It was Ali's fans who didnt vote enough who sent her home not Chris and his fans or Ricky and his fans.

So Chris is 'arrogant' now, as well as 'smug' and 'smarmy'?

Sorry, but you must have been hearing things: as Jan quite rightly says, others have commented on this but all he has done is thank the people who have voted. It was very clear on Saturday that he never expected to go through to the final - regardless of what may have happened in previous weeks.

He doesn't expect everyone to support him - there is no evidence as to how on earth this conclusion could be reached. He has been nothing but complimentary about the other contestants (and their supporters) - much as I get the impression some people might prefer him not to be.
