And conversely the sales of the X Factor single are largely driven by it being the X Factor single, regardless of the artist and regardless of the song being performed. A lot of people would be buying that whatever it was. Your point being?

The fact is, in order to topple the X Factor dominance, which is the principal factor in this campaign, people have to get behind the same horse in the race. Everyone pulling in a different direction achieves nothing.

Would I prefer a different song on a different label? Yes. But its the point being made ultimately, and none of this distortion about them being on Cowell's label (they aren't) and Killing In The Name profiting Cowell (it isn't) will stop people making their point.

This isn't about Joe, as we all know he'll ultimately be as successful as Steve Brookstein, Shayne Ward and Leon Jackson. This campaign began whilst the winner was being picked, and trying to say its because its Joe is weasely. Personally I'd have much preferred it to be Olly Murs, because I actually don't dislike Joe, whereas Olly isn't a particularly charismatic person.

I'm fine with that, get some excitement, but frankly it's one boring song against one messy piece of crap of a song that was released ages ago. Surely release a single that's worth the hype to make a point, letting this garbage be number one for christmas proves nothing other than the fact some people hate the X Factor.

Maybe so, but there's no denying the amusement to be gained from hearing the ending of the RATM song and thinking of Simon Cowell's face

Not according to the news on the radio not 7 minutes ago .. they're saying RATM is still outselling him.

You like posting this without a source, dont you??

Ive said before, it wouldnt surprise me if he is. I predicted that come the morn, Joe would be 20,000 ahead at the current rate of sales. But if your going to post stuff, list the source, and if there isnt a source, then nobody should take it as Gospel.

(They did try to get some pressed to stock but it wasn't possible)

I definiatly would have.”

I would've bought it on 7" single, if available!

This is from Friday:

01 Rage Against The Machine 306,115
02 Joe McElderry 297,192

The gap is narrowing which is probably because mum's are buying their kids the CD for Christmas. Lets hope it stays ahead of Joe!

How long ago was that published? Thats about 8,900 difference, and many sources have been saying 9,000. It would be hilarious if only 100 copies had been sold today, but the chances are, this is just the same number the Press have been talking about all day.

my point is that a lot of people are buying TXF single because they like it.

and a lot of people are buying the RATM song to stop TXF from getting to number ones.

often, it seems, as many as five or six times.

everyone pulling in this one direction, with the object of stopping a song getting to number one, rather than, i dunno, just buying the song(s) they actually like, seems a little, well, loaded.

that's my point.

Or you could say

A lot of people buying RATM because they like it

A lot of people buying TXF to stop RATM getting number one

often, it seems, as many as five or six times

If only Cradle of Filth bothered to release their Christmas single "I Decapitated All of Santa's Reindeers As A Sacrifice to Satan This Christmas" then perhaps we wouldn't even be having this in-depth conversation right now eh Ian?

i could say that, but only if i had any real reason to think that the only reason people were buying Joe's single was to stop RATM getting to number one.

but i was under the impression that, what with the success and popularity of TXF, it would be selling just fine,m RATM or no RATM.

and are many people buying Joe's single five or six times?
