And the tights were all wrong too! Should have been a darker colour.

Maybe if the shoes had been nude coloured they wouldn't have looked so clumpy, or if they'd had a T-bar they may have been a little more glam. I think the dress itself would have been fine if it was above the knee.

Not sure if the lower heels are because of her injury or to suit the dance.

Tiny adjustments and it could have been stunning.”

She is such a nice girl next door she cannot vamp it up to save her life . Had she danced naked she would have looked innocent.

She probably never went to St Trinians, and missed out on Facts of Life lessons. But a lovely girl, sigh.

Can't believe how they could make such a beautiful woman look so bad.

Dress should have been shorter and with darker tights.

And the split should have been up the side not the back

I think she wore low shoes because of her ankle injury, anything higher would have been very painful. I would have chosen something strappy for her with a slender heel, and defiately not black.

Can I just mention the hair as well? Why? Why did they do that to her?

Yep, straight back in a chignon (spelling) would have been much better (like Karen in the AT) and without the silly feathery thing. She is such a beautiful girl, and the get her hair so wrong).

Yup. Something as smooth and chic as possible. On the night her hair looked like mine does when I wake up after Ihave been on a night out and fallen into bed 'tired and emotional'.

She reminded me of Yvonne in Hi-de-hi in that awful dress and hair deco.

Because Ali and Brian not knowing better consented to it.

Kristina and Ola would have seen the mistakes instantly.

To be fair Kristina has had a few dodgy dresses in her time. The brown one with the white school knickers she wore for the dance with Brian was awful. And Ola's AT dress was odd too.

I am not sure Ali would have had the energy to start complaining about her outfit in a week where she had 2 dances to learn and all the added pressure. How many times do they see the outfit?

Think it takes the prize for the worst Strictly outfit ever. ”

This year alone Erin's 'monster munch' tango dress takes that biscuit. In the past some of Flavia's have been a tad grim as well the Abi Baba AS cullotte things from series five weren't great either or Kate Garroway's clown paso outfit.

Her hair was styled to make her taller than Brian and there seemed not enough movement in the dress - she looked like a manneqin to me.

I think the dress was similar to Karens from the AT she did with Mark but there was too much nude and the black knickers too vampish. I think they tried to make her sexy in a way Ali isn't (if anything she is soft sexy as opposed to Zoe who could carry off a more ruthless sexy look). I think that backfired big time.

I agree she could have been better styled in the AS too. The lilac didn't do anything to make the dance 'special' - it was a bog standard ordinary looking dress.

It was the shoes - they looked like something the Queen Mother would wear. And you wouldn't want to watch the Queen Mother doing the Argentine Tango, would you?

It was a poor choice of dress for Ali for the AT. The fabric looked cheap, the upper body didn't seem to fit properly even at the top of the arms, the length and styling made her look frumpy (not easy on someone so lithe) and the split was far too high.

As for the shoes - clumpy and unflattering, and darker tights were needed. Her hair needed to be sleek and minus the overly big hair accessory. Then to really finish it off they accessoried with pink bracelets and pink earrings. Truly awful.

The look for the AT is vital to help create the flavour of the dance. This was just distasteful.

Looking at it again. Definitely too long on the leg, too high a split- side would have been more flattering, cracker accessories and granny shoes.

I do not say Kristina and Ola would instinctively understand everything every time, standing their ground and fighting BBC Wardrobe. I believe last year Kristina wore mostly her own wardrobe for her celeb dances. Afterwards she sold her wardrobe to the public? For each different dance she dressed differently to suit her dance portrayal.

On the big occasion of John Sergeant's farewell dance, they had one chance to communicate to 12 million viewers in a controversial situation, and both rose to the challenge. John spoke well, and Kristina unfamiliar with English nuances spoke well through her choice of a beautiful gold ballgown. After the farewell she was in floods of tears but this did her no discredit.

Ali was up for survival on Saturday, but did not go into battle armed with heavy artillery selected by the best experts -- easy for the gentleman always in a black tailsuit with nothing else expected. Kristina would have risen to the big occasion, I believe.

when they had described the idea of ali's AT dress on ITT, i pictured something along the lines of what karen hardy wore when dancing with ramprakash, but instead it looked like cheap & nasty and the clumpy shoes were no help either!

Karen had a much more stylish black lace dress for the AT with Mark. She had much less flesh on show; the split and length in right proportions. More 'hint' than overt sexiness...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjQPbFmYmb8

As Ali had to wear lower heels the dress length could have been taken up, and that split should have been either on one side or slightly off centre at the front. Different colour/slightly different style of shoe would also have helped and a much simpler chignon would have lent a more sophisticated look.

Edit: great minds ^^^^^^^^^

I think Ali could do sultry, rather than sexy - which would suit the AT.

I know what her dress reminds me of, a tabard. That's why I thought "Omg, they have dressed her as a dinnerlady!" when she walked out onto the floor.

Surely you aren't suggesting that the drawing of the dress on ITT bore no resemblence to the actual thing I am shocked!
