Honestly, why is it ok for her to say "I don't know songs I never heard of", but when I say it, people give me weird looks?!
You answerd that question in your first sentence.....your not her!!!!

Also even Cribbins would say the simplist thing, and it would be funny....like the prawns!!!! And introducing himself, Jo, and Phil to DT!!!!! that was classic!!! Was not expecting that!!!!

I just want to quickly say what a difference there was in this Buzzcocks and the ones we have had in the past....for one its the funniest one ever...but the other thing was that this was the one where the least mocking of other artist/people ever took place!!!! You see you can have a laugh without it being at another persons expense!!!

Oh I'm so glad Catherine and Bernard were there with DT, at least they made it look somehow "natural", this guest hosting is not an easy job by the look of it. You have to be yourself for people to recognize you, and at the same time you've got all those, let's just say, "brutal" jokes scripted for you... I'm not criticizing, I like those jokes, even if they made me cringe sometimes, but let's face it, they have specific style, which doesn't suit every presenter...

Anyway, good show this time, shame about the peaceful resolution to "I should've been an assistant , not you!" I'd love to see a good old Dynasty, Crystal/Alexis style catfight between Jo and Catherine...

true...and at times it felt like DT was quite uncomfortable saying some "nasty" jokes.....so much so that he refused it alltogether for the likes of Coldplay for example!!! I am too very glad that CT and BC were there with him...although at times it did feel like CT had never worked with him before...but no their friendship was very evident...and they had fun, and I had fun watching them!!!

Yes it would have been cool for a catfight!!! Although I do like CT's answer....

(Damn, you always find a way to put my thoughts in much better words! Grrr! )

Absolutely agree! I don't really know Coldplay, except for couple songs, but three cheers for some Kate Bush love out there!
And yup, sir Cribbins didn't criticize Robbie Williams personally, and yet his joke was probably the best. *love love love* (sorry, I still haven't learned how to type those red hearts... )

Exactly...Bernard's humour is the best example of that...

Crying with laughter at Catherine Tate and Kate Bush love yeahhh she was all I wanted to listen to at school but had to pretend to like wham to look cool.
People on twitter saying Catherine must be drunk, but that's how she is, how she was on chain reaction interview, just hilarious, far funnier than her characters I think, and how lovely to have a show that wasn't constantly taking the micky all the while, brilliant entertainment

I actually find it very natural. I do that sometimes with my friends. If I know they're very passionate about something and like to talk about it, I "pretend" to be slightly more ignorant than I really am (although in my case it's probably not as charming as CT's style). Or rather, to be completely honest, I stop pretending that I know more than I really do... It's a bit liberating in fact. And I don't care if it makes me look like an idiot, it surely is a sign of a good friendship if the other person is able to tolerate you in that "idiotic" state, right?. You know, you don't have to know everything or share exactly the same interests with other person, to still have fun and something to talk about... Or even when you have totally opposite views on something, you can still joke about it, like CT and DT with their horoscopes love/hate thingie.

I'll better stop, I'm either not explaining myself properly, or stating the obvious, never mind.

Did I mention I love Catherine Tate?

Hi all, long time no see. A combination of being ill over the weekend, and then having my power cut off has kept me away. But I'm back, and I'm glad to see I've not yet missed people's reactions to "The Twin Dilemma". Wouldn't want to miss that.

Still, it doesn't mean RTD is "safe". Or rather, I don't mind him being "safe" in this case. I imagine he was supposed to be like that, he had big responsibility, not only as a writer, but as someone resurrecting the show, trying to sell it to people. If the price was to make it feel safe for some, at least on the surface, good for him, smart move.
This is really the only aspect of RTD's era that I could refer to as "safe".

But I can't agree that RTD's single episodes are predictable and safe, that you can expect that from RTD's scripts. Sure, maybe it feels like that sometimes afterwards, he wrote many different scripts, he's got his style, which some people like and some don't (that's a completely different problem). But whether I liked a particular episode of his or not, I was never able to predict its content (or my reaction) up front. I remember many nice surprises, I remember couple disappointments, but never anything predictable. Having the knowledge that we're gonna have Doctor-lite episode didn't prepare me for Turn Left, nor a companion-lite idea for Midnight. For a "future" adventure, Gridlock totally surprised me. Even Tooth & Claw wasn't what I expected. Ok, maybe I'm just naive, bad at guessing and easily amused, but... no, it can't be true, I'm rather critical and sceptical and believe me, words "RTD" in the opening titles don't put me automatically in the state of total awe.

Btw, for me it's series 3 that's more different than any other, for many reasons, if you look past the order and type of episodes of course.

Yes some people fairly lazily decided to label Potd as 'safe' because it's an easy criticism to make, and one that doesn't actually require them to provide any evidence...'oh yes, that was so predictable and dull, blah.' Now Potd may not have worked entirely but no, it wasn't playing it safe...having a flying bus and requiring fairly extravagant special effects for an episode on such a tight filming schedule for one thing! And really RTD's scripts frequently go in daring directions. The LOTTL, for example, is extremely daring in that he takes the lead character, who is regaurded as something of a heart throb and turns him in to a strange looking creature, he shows us a world that has been utterly destroyed by a psychopathic maniac and ends the series revealing that another heart throb might in fact turn in to a giant head! In terms of that episode people are far to quick to over look the risks taken and focus instead on the alleged reset (even though from our perspective the events happened and from the perspective of all major characters the events happened and had a profound effect) and over look the risks that were taken here.

Morning folks

Don't you just hate it when the digibox or whatever tells you 'Recording failed'?
There I was looking forward to watching buzzcocks, having sat through the ITV news when I get that rather disheartening message. And to read all yor comments is making me

Luckily the box gave me another message - Recording rescheduled Tuesday 22 at 21.30 I shall wait until then

Still trying to avoid spoilers - silly i know as there s so much "official" trailers and so on but if I read one, I will have to read the lot I assume from context that spoilers over the last couple of pages relate n part to series 5? Ah well best not to pick and choose
back later for a brief visit with today's extra
*hugs to them as need/want them*

byee!

I've watched Never Mind the Buzzcocks. I had such a laugh.
CT was fantastic, she totally stole the show, she was so funny !
I have no idea if she just put a very good act or if that's how she naturally behaves when she has a good time or if she was drunk and actually I don't care : she was funny, she was entertaining and she was sweet !

DT and BC were extremely funny too.
I just can't remember which one but there was one of DT's line that had me snorting with laughter in my morning tea
And the references to JB were funny (I particularly enjoyed the one about Muse singer ).
