hi i knew this would happen last year big bro was boring
they put a load of young single pretty adults in who were boring
fake and pretending to be another version of past big bro contestants ie scott graig nush sada
i said this last year about copy cat contestants on the big bro forumn and got accused of being nasty
anyway my point is i have read this weeks sunday mags and basically the new big bro house is gonna be a hot bed of sex
i have a teenage daughter who will be addicted to it shes 13 and its gonna set a real good example to her
i like a laugh ect im not crude im no mary whitehouse but i think after im a celeb the jordan peter thing the producers of big bro know that they are gonna have to match the ratings to get another series so they are using the sex thing

ROLL ON BTR 2 AND BEING ON THIS FORUMN WHEN BIG BRO 5 BEGINS
LET THE BITCHING BEGIN LOL

DO U THINK THE SEX THING WILL BE A GOOD OR BAD IDEA REPLY HERE

I agree, sex in the BB house will be good. It will give us all what we've ever wanted since BB1. Im not a pervert, lol, its just interesting to see how relationships form.

I don't think either of them were pretending... Nush was clearly into her yoga and all that fake hippy shit, and Scott played it like most reasonably intelligent people probably would (reserved). The problem was that you had people who just didn't have the balls to speak up. The obvious exceptions to this were Federico and Jon, and possibly Anouska and Sissy. They all went relatively early. Had they stayed and the likes of Steph, Gos, Justine and Cameron gone instead, it could have been a different show.

The double eviction remains the worst idea ever on big Brother.

As for the next series relying on sex... The first one worked without it, and the second and third ones did as well. Even the stupid bars couldn't ruin the 3rd one. Why? Because it was a great mix of characters. That is what they should be focusing on.

They don't need sex to make it sucessful, as stated above BB1, 2 & 3 did fine with a great mix of personalities alone. Whereas BB4 was terrible because of the dull housemates.

If they rely soley on sex for BB5 I don't see how that can be a good thing.

The double eviction was at the time the only way they could think of of removing Jon. I don't think at that time a head to head with any other contestant would have resulted in him leaving. I'm not a Jon fan but going by the popularity at the time I knew that had this in mind.

But getting back to the main question ,our BB is very tame compared to just about every other series I've every seen (18 contries so far). But would the UK public be prepared for lots of nudity and sexual goings on ? If it happened like it has done recently in other contries then either the early show like BBLB would have very limited footage for they would have to have both shows after the watershed (9PM) or face fines.
The other thing is how would the censors treat the live feeds under these circumstances ? Would it mean that they would only be able to stream the more normal events ? I guess this would be the case and you would have to wait until the evening to find out what had been going on and then you'd only get the Channel4 view of events as there couldn't risk broadcasting the events just in case too much was seen. This leaves you with an even more uneventful show based on them not being allowed to show anything else except in their own edited show.

I am not a prude, but I would hate to see sex in BB, and I believe if it happens it will definitely spell the end of a show that gets enough flak from "the chattering classes" as it is (Sex and nudity are two different things, nudity would not cause a big stir.)

Although it was a different age group, the sex scene on teen big brother made me cringe, it came across as very sordid (as indeed it was).

I loved the Helen and Paul romance in BB2, especially the night of the dinner dates, but that would have completely spoilt the romance of it all if they had gone the whole distance. Compare this with the day after the PJ and Jade incident under the sheets. I have teenagers and was not embarassed watching it with them, it provided a perfect talking point against promiscuity, would any contestant really want to be used as a bad role model example?

Contestants that do have sex in the house will be absolutely pilloried by the British press, whatever has happened in other countries.

Televised SEX in front of millions of people isn't part of normal life, not where I come from anyway, we're a bit prudish in Berkshire.

Put loads of sex in BB5 and it will be great viewing..................
........... of the chicken cam for 9 weeks ..........
Romance yes! sex... nah! I don't like the idea at all.

I agree totally with you CPA, apart from anything else sex for the sake of it would just be sordid. Some fumble under a duvet or behind the chicken coop a real turnoff Now romance on the other hand thats something we can get our preverbial teeth into...will they kiss wont they? The quite conversations. The little nuances of attraction, now that would be riviting.

Exactly Merlin.. why don't the producers think like the rest of us?
Why do they think that seeing sex on TV is what we find appealing?
If I wanted that I'd watch a hard core porno, not sit watching a chicken cam all day, just to watch a duvet doing a jg !!!!!!!
Sex on TV nowadays is nothing new! An interesting, exciting reality show would be !!

Oh my gawd what a total bore, just what do people see in the whole exercise, and just exactly are C4 going to allow to be shown? The motion of bedclothes, crumbs how exciting (not).

And how exactly do C4 intend to make sure that things 'go with a bang', spike the water with viagra or any aphrodisiac................ Oh, of course they will resort to alcohol, just what do people find so fascinating about the drunken maulings and slobbering of strangers on tv get real the whole concept is just another nail in the BB coffin.

hi all,the solution to making big brother better is not to add sex,but to allow the contestants to talk about nomations?ie who they should vote out. After watching big brother usa last year, that was the best big brother i've ever seen!!it was seriously cut throat and make really good tv .i hope e4 shows big brother usa again.

Veering very very slightly off topic here- am I the only person who would rather see the housemates get along than argue?
moogester

No you're not beemoh. I didn't like BB3 as much as BB1 or BB2 because of the arguing and bullying that went on. But having said that BB4 was very, very, boring, so perhaps just a little bit of arguing to get the adrenalin going every now and then!!!!

Trashcan, judging by the date when this thread was begun, it's taken you a hell of a long time to decide!

sex sells period.

I just hope there's lots of beautiful people doing it, not some plate-faced minger trying to get it on with a dippy STU-dent under a table.

DonnaBC, I understand your concerns but you have to exercise parental discretion as to whether you want your kid(s) to watch an adult themed program that goes out after 9pm...

In the other countries where I know people, Big Brother has a bad rep because of the sex. It's seen as a dirty show. I reckon that the producers got it right with BB 1 and 2. Put sex in and people will turn off.

I agree with CPA, more romance. More wine, violins, roses, um ... ahem. Sorry!

donnaBC, you're right on the nail as far as I'm concerned. However, from the little that I've seen, I think the producers are going to wind up "over producing" it again, rather than let real people go in there and do their thing.

Bring back the original social experiement! It's been far too over-engineered. People will do much more interesting things on their own, given a little time and some gentle prodding, rather than going in with a sledgehammer to crack a social nut. Reality is FAR more interesting and engaging than fiction, as the stage 1 audition crew who met me will probably testify

Each BB series needs to have it's own identity and theme. They've done the evil BB with sex & violence a-plenty. This year they'll have to find a new angle whilst still maintaining high ratings. Might be difficult unless they resort to some crazy gimmicks. Going back to "real" reality won't happen.
