Arlene: "Dead eyes..."

Alesha: "I had to endure that..."

Craig: "...bush kangaroo..."

Bruno: "...grasshopper..."

Actually I would nominate Bruce for that with his 'joke' about Anton being eliminated on Saturday I couldnt believe how crass it was and completely unfunny.

People didn't take well to...

"Laila, you're getting on my wick" - Alesha

Craig: You come down the stairs at the wrong time...

No worse than calling Erin an old banger.

Alesha's "I had to endure that" is the worst so far, closely followed by the "getting on my wick comment". She has turned out to be really unpleasant...

"Rigor mortis" by Craig is much worst in my opinion, as bad as dead eyes.

BTW I've heard Len say in the past "getting on my wick" so its not just Alesha.

I think 'dead eyes' was the worst as it implies more than bad dancing I think. I would be really hurt by someone saying that to me.

'Endure blah blah ' was pretty bad though, not necessarily what she said but the way she said it.

Alesha reflected my feelings pretty accurately, though I suppose it's debatable whether she should have said it.

I thought Bruce's comment to Jo Wood was worse than anything the judges have said to any contestant.

^^What did he say to Jo again?

Yes but then it was her delivery of it, it's Len's thing and the last time he did it was the week before (or before that) and it was funny because it was directed at Craig. Wasn't the actual line but the delivery

I agree with this post and to all Alesha lovers she did actually say these things as well as accusing Laila of dancing like a drunken rag doll. Charming! I also found her to be quite offensive when she criticised Ola's choreography. She can comment on the celebrities but not on the professionals - totally out of order. Completely up herself or as my friend would say "she thinks she is every self". Yes, imho too, she has turned out to be a really unpleasant woman.

Ah, but to some people it sounds more offensive when it comes out of Alesha's mouth...come to think of it, some people seem to find offence/fault with anything that comes out of Alesha's mouth...

Ah! but Alesha's gramatical delivery was much better than Len's. I quote "on my wick" as opposed to Len's "on me wick"

Well, I'm a Laila fan and I thought Alesha was spot on with that comment...and I'm sure even Laila herself would agree with that.

Hold up now, I'm actually not an Alesha hater but people didn't take too well to it is all I said. It didn't come out well for the reasons I posted above.

Why is it 'out of order' to criticise the Pro dancers, they are fair game as far as i'm concerned and should be pulled up when they need to be.

Aliona made a pigs ear of her quickstep choreography, totally let him down and needed to be told, as did Vincent, one of my favourites, who should have done more to correct some of Natalie's bad habits instead of allowing her to make the same mistakes week after week.

Alesha had every right to criticise Ola if she needed it.

"Dead eyes" is the worst one for me, both hurtful and completely unnecessary.

I just remembered Arlene's "Poles from Poland" comment to Ola regarding her Rumba with Kenny Logan, for which the Beeb had to later apologise for. Absolutely disgraceful!

Can someone clarify this for me please?

I'm not trying to justify or accuse anyone of anything - I am just wanting an explanation.

It seems that I am alone in being a little confused as to why this comment was so dreadful.

As I recall, Arlene said (trying for word for word here), "You looked like the pole dancer and the pole."

Now I realise that Ola is Polish but do we have any evidence that Arlene was making any reference to that when making her remark?

I may be naive and too willing to see good in people but when I heard that comment, I took it as Arlene saying that Ola had choreographed a routine that was 99% Ola gyrating about and keeping attention focused on her while Kenny just stood still providing a repository for her undulations. The fact that Arlene mentioned "pole" and Ola is from Poland didn't register with me; she could just as easily have said it about any of the couples if the criticism had been apposite.

Given Ola's nationality, it was an unwise choice of words but can anyone explain to me what, if anything, I am missing in the meaning that makes the comment as terrible as so many people say it is. As I said, I'm not demanding people justify their extreme reaction, I genuinely want to know as I seem to have missed/misheard or misinterpreted something there.

"It was like the pole and the pole dancer dancing around him. It was like Poles from Poland" was what she said. So she did mention it specifically in relation to Ola's nationality, but I didn't get the volume of fuss about it - the show trades in moderately crude ethnic stereotypes (especially about Vincent) all the time

Ah, thank you. I obviously did miss the end of the remark - I do understand more of the outrage now. Silly Arlene, the comment was actually quite effective without the nationality reference. Did she think she was being witty dragging it in?

I was particularly annoyed at the one but, on reflection I think it was a joke that fell flat! On several occasions he's said something disparaging before praising a routine to the hilt.

I think the "I had to endure that" was the comment which I found most offensive. It was far too personal and the type of comment which eventually got Arlene the sack. It was made doubly worse because Alesha was supposed to be the judge who empathised with the contestant.

I wanted to throw something at the TV when she said that. The others in the OP were all about the dance or dancer being judged, that was about Alesha throwing a tantrum because her favourite was send home.
