I always thought Arlene to Phil Daniels was just bitchy. It was something along the lines of 'Back in the day, I used to admire you. Now I'm looking at you thinking 'ha! You're not so good now, are you?''

That was the same judging panel where Craig sneered at him and called him "common" wasn't it? I've not been so close to sympathy voting since Len went unhinged at Kelly Brook.

What did Len say to Kelly Brook ?

A good example of a nasty comment made nasty by the way it was said was Craig's "miraculous recovery" to Laila.

Oh yeah, I remember that. A bit humiliating.

I was going to put that - it was dreadful. Silly old fool needs to retire!

I don't remember the Anton 'joke'.

The worst for me was 'I can't believe I had to endure that' ~ not because she was wrong, gawdelpus, she was spot on; the lack of breeding at saying it annoyed me.

I'm sorry to list that one though, because I thought Alesha started well enough, ok anyway; had a really arrogant sounding patch, and was very good this Saturday - I'm not an Aleshastomper.

Has he ever said it to a contestant though? I can only remember him saying it to Craig and Bruno, which is just pantomime, and not the same as saying it to a contestant.

I think what made Len's attack on Kelly so bad is that he must have known what was going on in her personal life. I didn't, and just thought he was being OTT, however when it came out about her father I couldn't believe that he had been so aggressive. Shameful behaviour on his part.

By far the most offensive judge is CRH.

The worst comment ever to be made for which there was never an apology was to Patsy Palmer when he said to her that ...

"You look like a scrubber in a puffer jacket".

He should have been sacked over that remark. Personal, stupid, offensive and nothing to do with dancing at all.

I received a warning from the DS mods just for mentioning it.

Although Craig is seen as the 'nasty' judge I actually tend to agree with him most of the time. On the most part I think he mixes pantomime villain with constructive criticism. For me, the nastiest comment this series was Alesha to Craig Kelly when she said that she couldn't believe Zoe had been voted out and she had to endure that. She practically hissed at him and I thought it came across as vindictive and uncalled for.

Not fair to just assume he knew what was going on.

Agree with this. It's thoroughly unprofessional, not to mention inaccurate, to blame one contestant for another going out. Also Craig calling Phil Daniel's dance 'common' was outrageous. And this wasn't technically said TO someone, but I thought Len saying in the VT before Laila's salsa that if she got more than a 6 he'd pickle his walnuts was a disgrace. Judging a dance before you've seen it? Really professional, Len. And he needs a memo from the producers about overuse of the 'pickling walnuts' phrase. Bored of that now.

He mainly said to Craig whom like James Jordan I love but I get the impression is tough enough to take pretty much anything someone dishes out to him. He's also a judge and as a judge you're there to critise so shouldn't be surprised if some it comes back - I don't like it when Len does it but it's nowhere near as bad as saying something that personal to a contestant. For me that's what makes that and "I had to endure that" so bad is that they're personal at least with the bush kangeroo comments they were about the dancing.

He's admitted he was in the wrong about that in a Strictly annual but it the comment was actually in responce to her telling him he didn't know what he was talking about and it was actually "well you're just famous for playing a scrubber in a puffer jacket who cries all the time" so a) she was rude first and b)it was an insult against her character rather than her.

I think, the odd nasty comment aside, my end of term report on the judges is reasonably favourable. I think their behaviour has improved and, although in a minority, I actually prefer the new harder-hitting Bruno.

I'm reserving judgment on Alesha as she probably needs another series to bed in (although as a woman of middle years, my hackles rose instinctively at the ousting of Arlene Phillips over one of the men).

I really like Darcey Bussell - softly spoken and intelligent comments - to me she's a positive addition although agree that putting on an extra judge and then not giving time for all 5 to speak is nonsensical.

Craig is always good value and Len has not wound me up as much as in previous years (though his appearance reviewing the papers on Andrew Marr on Sunday confirmed my prejudices - let's just say as a woolly leftie Guardian reader - I found his views a tad unreconstructed!)

I think this series has been different to previous ones in that the judges' favourite is a male and so there's been less over the top praising and more realistic criticism. Compare this to Bruno and his "girls" last year!

All things considered, I'd give a B+.

As a judge, CRH should be above this childish attempt to insult someone and get cheap laughs.

The man is obnoxious and plays on his gay status with his innuendos.

If any straight person came out with half of the remarks he does, they would be sacked.

Reading through the comments it's sad that some of the celebs have to take that from those judges. Some of the judges are just horrible full stop. It's an entertainment program not the olympics.

I can't remember the actual words but I remember Lynda Bellingham being very taken aback in the first week at the comments she got about her size. She wasn't pretending to be a size 12 and she was really shocked that she should have been attacked on a personal thing like that so soon.

Alesha had every right to criticise Ola if she needed it.”

That is like Roger Federer criticizing David Beckham on his crossing ability. I cringe when Alesha criticizes the pro dancers. I like Alesha but she should stick to be being the fans judge and leave that bit to the judges that are qualified to criticize the pro dancers choreography. I can just imagine all the pro dancers laughing at her when she does this.

Len has made me see red a few times. Once was the tirade to Kelly and he referred to her as 'you'. Obnoxious.

Then in the results show after the Austin and Erin Paso he was STILL going on about him being a Spanish waiter and then said Erin looked like a barmaid which was completely out of order...certainly to refer to a pro like that.

He's toned down a bit this year but I feel the 'nice' persona is just an act sadly.

Gotta be :

Alesha - 'I can't believe Zoe's out and I had to endure that'.......'You're not as good as you think you are'

I was actually shocked when she said that.

I was shocked at that one too... How dare brucie say that about the lovely Anton!!! I love Brucie but imho that was going a bit far.

I also agree that CRH's "Bush kangaroo" to Jo was harsh...

To that I would add Bruce's comment about Jo Wood 'losing a Stone.'

That was beyond crass.

And last year's comment by Craig to Mark Foster 'stick insect on acid' was neither funny nor constructive.

Just shows, it would be boring if we all thought that same, because I applauded when she said that, especially as it was more or less what was on my own mind.
