Interesting reversal of fortune somewhat....

Seems interesting that Chris is now coming in for some stick, although nothing near the catty personal abuse aimed at Ricky over the last 14 weeks.

I wouldn't say any focused campaign has backfired, more that Ricky and Natalie - despite scoring highly all series - had a breakthrough last Saturday and won people over.

What "catty, personal abuse"?

Genuinely interested.

Me too.

I didn't seem to be that Ricky was getting it very bad, but since I wasn't a supporter (though I don't dislike him), I may not have bothered with the right threads.

Does 'hate campaign' refer to posters on DS?

It never occurs to me that our opinions make a jot of difference, either to the national perception of the personalities involved or to the final outcome.

If, by 'interesting', you mean 'glad it's someone else and not my guy' - no, I don't find it interesting, I find it depressing. I haven't counted the numbers of posts or threads containing 'catty personal abuse' so I don't know what proportion has gone to which contestant. What I do know is that I deplore them ALL and there have been too many of them. They are not worthy of fans of the show and they reduce the level of conversation on this board to an equally depressing extent.

Oh, there's been plenty of catty, personal abuse aimed at ALL of the participants over the weeks, it has just got more concentrated now due to the lack of available targets.

And the board is a pretty unpleasant place as a result. It's quite depressing to see many people prepared to show the most unpleasant side of themselves over something so trivial.

I totally agree with that. It's a nasty place to be in at the moment, and does no-one any credit.

My my what a strange/odd post, now we have imaginary 14 week 'hate campaigns'
The worst I've heard against both Ricky and Natalie is that they are both a bit on the dull/bland side, hardly 'hate' is it?

I must say that I am now sitting and wondering why it isn't possible to celebrate one couple without apparently having to have the knives out for their "opponents".

I don't mean celebrating achievements in the uber-fan lashings of honey that goes on over in the App. threads but a reasoned examination of strengths and weaknesses.

But all this vituperation is getting a bit much even for me and I love a good b1tching and sl@gging off session. Too much unpleasantness now...

I dont really give Ricky or Natalie much thought, I even fast forward some of their dance as they...sorry to say..bore me.......

Chris and Ola are funny........he tries and tries....he has come on leaps and bounds n never gives up...takes some awful feed back and comes back fighting.....people like that......he is the Susan Boyle of the dance world..lol...a wee gem.

Exactly, when ever Natalie or Ricky is interviewed or talks 2 mins later I think 'what did she/he just say?'
Does that constitute as 'abuse' or 'hate'?

They've have been quite a few "anti Ricky threads with titles like

I've now hit the 'anyone but Ricky' point

Ricky cannot win now - even if found entirely innocent.

Ricky W - bullied for being bald

The Great British public spoke tonight. We don't appreciate your behaviour Ricky

Of Course It Would Be a Travesty If Ricky W Didn't Win But He Just Isn't Popular

Why can't I warm to Ricky Whittle?

Am I The Only Person That Cannot Stand Ricky Whittle And Natalie Lowe?!?!?!?!?

Ricky Whittle and his 7 months training has ruined this years SCD

So just who was voting for Ricky & Natalie ?

More tears from Natalie next week? Or will Ricky's goldfish mysteriously snuff it?

'Anti' is not the same as 'Hate' Is it?

When it comes to Ricky, no. When it come to being anti-Chris or Cola, it's akin to being a professional puppy kicker.

Do you have a vested interest in proving there have been no hate threads in general? You seem to pushing quite hard at the question.

I'm with you. I must have been reading a different forum to everyone else.

He is dull and boring imho - I drift off when he dances as I don't find him entertaining in the least. Just my opinion though. Its not catty or hateful to have an opinion about someone. Off the dance floor he seems perfectly fine.

Chris on the otherhand entertains me when he dances - mind you having said that he irritates me at all other times. Still prefer to watch his dances though over ricky any day of the week which is why for me he is my winner.

Absolutely agree! We all have reasons for liking or disliking particular couples etc., but some of the posts have been quite unpleasant and nasty. I love the forums as it gives so many of us the chance to express our different and usually well-reasoned opinions but so often threads just degenerate into slagging people off.

When ever they're interviewed I get as far as "We've been training really hard this week blah blah........." and before I realise I'm away with the fairies Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz::yawn:

Interesting use of metaphor. In Ireland being 'away with the fairies' means you're barking mad or at least not all there and a tad stupid.....

I think its a bit OTT to call it a hate campaign .
I will hold my hand up ans say I have posted that I couldnt warm to either Ricky or Natalie and find them a bit bland and at times false
Hardly a hate campaign . The nature of forums is to get such comments , I have seen quite a few saying Ali was a a bit drippy and wet , I didnt see that , but I dont call those posters haters, they see what they see .
