I've only ever seen Bruce on SCD (I'm 20), but i really enjoy him on the show. i don't know if it's just cos i'm easily amused by his jokes or the fact that he's like the 'cute granddad' figure of the show, but he's always there to kinda pick up the contestants after they've had a slating from the judges or whatever and his one liners to the judges are hilarious. i kinda want him to adopt me a little bit, i think

I am 73 and I want him to retire. I have had way too much of him!

I fall somewhere inbetween the ages of the 2 previous posters, old enough to remember The Generation Game in which I thought Bruce was very good. Wonder if the BBC chose him as a "safe" host because according to very early comments there was a lot of doubt as to whether or not the show would catch on, and as Bruce was nearing the end of his presenting shelf life it wouldn't really have mattered if SCD had turned out to be a complete turkey,
Sorry to ramble

Larry Grayson was better (RIP Larry)

Off script he's great. Its all those lame jokes which put me off. My kids think he's great though.

And I'm old enough to remember Generation Game and Play Your Cards Right

You guessed wrong. I am old enough to remember him on Play Your Cards Right etc - couldn't stand him then, can't stand him now.

To me, it feels as inappropriate and embarrassing as dredging up poor old Larry Grayson and having him present the show (although he'd probably be a lot funnier than Bruce, if he weren't dead...).

I did consider asking Dr bolognaise if she'd done a rotation in colorectal surgery as somebody would be needed to extract Claudia.

No, I grew up with Sunday Night at the London Palladium. If memory serves, Jimmy Tarbuck was much funnier then, and Brucie is nothing but embarrassing now.

Erm, actually, no. I'm 43 as you can tell from my user name, and think that Bruce should go. I remember the Generation Game ect and that is why I want to see him retire now and people will remember what he was when he was at the top of his game, now, frankly a lot of the time he is embarrassing to watch. Thanks for all the memories Bruce, but now go and enjoy your retirement

I do unfortunately! The only time I really took to him was when he did a dance/music programme with Sammy Davis Jnr. Otherwise I couldn't stand him and still can't.

Haven't seen it yet, but if it's anything like Tess' spot it will be as if he''s forced it on them himself. The funny thing is, I almost found Tess attractive in her spot, almost as if I saw Tess in the way The Tess sees herself, LOL
