Britney - Love her but she needs to sing live. Stop being a lazy cow. How boring would you get by lyp synching from a tour between March and November

Madonna - Your a legend but stop being young. Retire maybe

Cheryl Cole - Can actually sing.

Girls Aloud/Cheryl Cole solo: They/she can't sing. Well,I like their voices and I'm not forcing anyone else to listen!
Oh,and "They're manufactured/don't write their own songs". So bloody what, the music is amazing! Plus they do have writing credits on quite a few songs. Research!

Rammstein: They're German! So they must automatically be Nazi supporters!

Not a specific band or artist but when people call bands I like rubbish without having heard a single note by them.

And the classic "If they were any good they'd be in the charts"

Rammstein - "They're Nazis"
No they're not and if they weren't German people wouldn't think of even saying that.

Finntroll - "They're death/thrash/black/doom metal"
No. They're a folk band!

Incredible String Band - "They're all crazy!"
No, they're all off their faces.

To the OP - I tend to agree with people who say Radiohead are depressing, even though in many respects, I'm a huge fan.
I find a blast of Basshunter usually lifts my mood after a Radiohead session.

I usually find it the other way round, most good things I have enjoyed listening to through the decades, have rarely made the charts!

Oh god yes!

Pearl Jam - Are they still around?/ They were ok in the 90's / Nirvana were sooo much better.

BTW I also love Nirvana.

Queen - for apparently being a 'joke' band, for being 'gay', for being so successful, for not being 'relevant'.

That's it really, I am not really a 'fan' of anyone else widely criticised (Jeff Buckley, Otis Redding, Roy Orbison etc.).

That critique is a load of rubbish! Firstly, they can actually sing and secondly they aren't even "manufactured" like some other bands are because they were already 4 best friends who entered the show together.

Ticket sales reflect that too. I missed out on the chance to get tickets to their brighton show (which is tonight!...so gutted, I can't even say!) The tickets for their UK shows sold out so fast! Its good in a way, they have a big following, but I didnt get any tickets I WILL see them next year!! Lol

I got told the other week, concerning the Beatles that:

I should listen to some decent music

From a person that likes the music of N-Dubz and those club CDs that just have pop songs and 'four on the floor' added to the background.

I admit I read the question, but skipped over his own examples.

Seems that the whole thread is just an excuse to have criticisms of artists laid out without getting an 'unconstructive thread' closure.
Quite clever OP.

Edit - what happened to your post?
I quoted what was there originally but now it has gone, as has the quotation.

Just for the record, I commented directly after the OP, and the three bands I mentioned are bands that I love. I wasn't criticising them, just pointing out things that are often said about them.

That's fine, but the OP (it was later observed) said about Pete Docherty 'that he never listens to him, yet he is talentless and why is he famous?
That is just an outright criticism.
If it was done in the guise of someone else saying it then that was not very clear.
I don't know - SourCherry made the point better but has now decided not to continue with it (there was no double post).

Edit:
These were the OP's words:
"The Libertines - I haven't heard any Libertines songs in my life but anyway Pete Doherty has no talent, why is he famous?"

If taken as read, then the OP is saying that HE/SHE has never heard any songs by them.
Like I said, it is not clear if they are saying it as if they were the critic and the OP is in fact a fan.

Ashlee Simpson "She can't sing, she always mimes."
She has a good enough voice, unless you want everyone to sound Leona-esque and she mimed a few times in her career. She's been in musicals on the west end and broadway, she can clearly sing live!

Hole "She killed Kurt Cobain!"
Yes, you have a twatty conspiracy theory about the lead singer, but what did you think of the song?

Christina Aguilera "She just sings a million notes per word"
Well not really, she has plenty of songs with a much more subdued vocals, she doesn't do the vocal acrobatics in every song! She can do loads of different genres, not just trilling ballads.

My Chemical Romance "All their songs are about killing themselves."
Are they? No

Miley Cyrus "She's a slut!"
Wearing shorts does not make a 17 year old girl a 'slut'!

Oh, how did I forget that one! I listen to both those bands and it drives me up the wall when I hear "They're Nazis". Mind you, that accusation is so stupid that it isn't really worth paying attention to. If someone's going 'German= Nazis!" then they're clearly a bit thick. And that's being polite.

Agree with both those points, and I'm not sure which is worse. The Hole one annoys me mainly because Kurt's death and whether Courtney's behind it (which she probably is not) is all anyone ever seems to care about. If someone on YouTube actually wanted to talk about Hole's music, for example, then they would be waiting a while, because every comment under every video is about that bloody theory.

I think My Chemical Romance are treated quite unfairly- I think a lot of people only hate them because it's the 'cool' thing to do, or because they don't like MCR's fans, because their criticisms aren't usually based in fact. They're better than 99% of other scene bands (imo, anyway). Also, it annoys me how they've only become a 'joke band- no-one minded them much during their first two albums, did they, even if they weren't their cup of tea. Their crediblity has been ruined by one dodgy album. That's pretty damn sad.

I really messed up my post - sorry!

It was doubled, then the first somehow deleted Lucky it did anyway, because I completely mis-read the OP's point.

Back on topic:

My favourite bands/artists are The Libertines, The Beatles and Joni Mitchell

People slag off The Libs because of Pete, but these are usually people who have absolutely no idea what music is really about and focus on negative press about Pete.

No-one really slags The Beatles, unless they're trying to be ultra-'cool'.

La Rouxs my fav artist and i'd like to ask her that, why now the royalties are rolling in, she's changing her image. She should just keep it real.

I've noticed of late her in some decidedly dodgy designer jackets from Monsieur La Croix whoever the hell he is and they're hideous - also her hair is way overstyled and at Brixton academy she came on with only one eye heavily done in black eyeshadow.

I prefered her when she was skint and just got up and sang in her regular clothes. Its like the money/fame's changing her and she's just way too overstyled.
