could anyone tell me the best way to set up an ethernet or other connection for a panasonic tv and blueray player plus a foxsat all in one room and a computer in another?

would it be better to have the router near the tv setup because the amount of connections? then what would be the best way to feed the computer? I've been looking at the 240v mains system, I have wireless dongle thing to plug in but it is 25ft away and through two chimney breasts.

Is there a better way?

There are several ways to achieve it, whether or not one is better than any other depends on your circumstances.

Is your router in the same room as the computer? And how does it connect to the phone line? For starters, if your phone socket is in another room then you'd be better off placing your router right next to it on as short a line as possible, that would give you the best broadband speeds. This may well turn out to be the room where your TV is, so you would then need to use a wireless connection to your computer, or use a wired connection from room to room which would be the best option.

Wireless may or may not work for you, your only option is to try it.

In my opinion, the best solution is to have a wired ethernet connection, this will suffer no dropouts and will give you maximum possible speed. In your situation, assuming the router is in the computer room, I would take an ethernet cable from the router into the room where the TV is and put an ethernet switch there. You can then feed your 3 devices from the switch.

I would recommend one of the following at the lounge end:

I have just had an offer from talk talk of the new router, I'll see if that is as all singing and dancing as described!
if not I'll rip up all the existing wiring and re route and hard wire most of it and then have a dabble at the mains connection.
