One True Voice were fully expected to win, given that bands like Westlife, Boyzone, Backstreet Boys, Blue etc were either big at the time or emerging - boybands ruled back then.

SOTU was a big surprise, good little pop song. Still sounds good today.

It may not have been original in terms of who it was written for, but it was unheard of and was a brilliant pop song. That's My Goal was orisinal for Shayne Ward so i don't buy this 'they wouldn't have time' excuse.
I don't mind the X Factor getting the Christmas number 1, i'd much rtaher that than some novelty track however the thing that irks me is that it almost seems impossible for them to have any originality for the acts.

I agree with the thread title though, imo it was the best winner's single.

One other good one was "I Believe" which was done by Fantasia Barrino. But it was simply a perfect song for her. Done by anyone else and it wouldn't have worked at all.

It's not a great song, but "Right Here, Right Now" was a song done for Swedish Idol and sung by Agnes. It's one of the better ones as well.”

I agree that "I Believe" may not have been the best single but she performed the living crap out of it and actually made it seem special

Am I right in saying that Sound of the Underground is a cover though (though the original is not well known apparently)?

EDIT: Yes. the original was by a group called Orchid. Disbanded shortly afterwards though.

Ahh, Google's a wonderful thing

Well I guess so, but they could easily do it for the last 5 or 6 (wasn't the Sugababes latest album put together in about 5 weeks (prior to the drama))... anyway, there's lots of demos/unused tracks floating about.

Either way, it would be more interesting if it wasn't a cover of a song release 8 months ago!
