You know - even if KITNO doesn't get to Number 1, there's millions of people that will hear something they might never have otherwise heard because it would never have got within a mile of a mainstream radio breakfast show.

They can then decide whether they like it or not, which is a much better way of going about things than having SyCo's output rammed down your gullet every time to switch the radio or tv on.

I don't know what's worse, people who buy a single because they have heard it alot or those who buy it because they were urged to by an internet campaign.

Buy what YOU like to listen to! Avoid ALL the hype!

Why does it matter what reason they buy it for? I don't care if they buy it to listen to it, or to make a statement and listen to it- it's up to them.

I presume the people buying both songs are doing it because they want to- their reasons are irrelevant- at least to me anyway.

I just happen to think people should buy music because they like it. People on the RATM campaign slag X-factor buyers for being "sheep". Can't you see a trace of irony there?

Thank you for your very kind and terribly patronising advice.

You'll notice I clearly stated that once people have heard RATM on the radio they "can then decide whether they like it or not."

Incidentally, I bought the album 17 years ago.
I've only just got round to buying the single though!

I was agreeing with you about people buying the XF single because it's been "rammed down their throats"

Neither are 'sheep', so I see no irony at all. I think you are being insulting and making sweeping generalisations about both sides.

BBC Radio what? I'm guessing 1, but they have a bit of a network of stations.

I heard they're playing a Miley Cyrus cover.

They were just on BBC radio 5.

They talked to the guy that started the campaign and a bit about Simon Cowell and then about the charity, which they really seemed to care about. Morello was funny, he seems like an intelligent guy.

Still, they started the chant at the end of the song without swearing, then suddenly burst into it loudly and were cut off!

Oops!

I totally agree. I buy what I like. Not because I'm being urged to either by the endless x-factor promotion or a viral web campaign. And as it turns out, I like neither, so I'm pretty apathetic to the whole thing.
