So, to stop Simon Cowell telling us to buy The Climb, we are now being told to buy RATM. Hypocrisy from the people who started this, anyone?
Personally I think the whole thing is ridiculous. What is it going to be next year then? mass buying of 'Barbie Girl' or some other rubbish? These people are no better than Cowell, force feeding us music.

People are definitely telling me to buy it, it's just that they're not quite holding me at gunpoint yet.

At least The X Factor's just a stupid, popular fad. The RATM is a ****ing cult.

But nobody is forcing you to buy either, so I really don't see what the problem is.

And the money from the RATM single is going to charity, so I really think people need to stop whinging about it

Seems a bit odd to create a new thread to raise a point that must have been brought up at least 5 times in each of the others.

It should have been a stupid Christmas novety song to go to Christmas No1 as that is what Christmas is about, listening to cheesy Christmas music and having a laugh.

That's what Christmas is about... to you.

I personally think this is far more interesting than some "Stupid Christmas novety song"

I agree with the having a laugh though- to me this is funny.

Personally, I find Killing In The Name a much much much much much much much more better track than that butchered, batarsdised, unoriginal, boring, dross cover of a MILEY CYRUS song by some kid who won a major TV Karaoke show, but each to their own. It's good to see Killing In The Name do well in the UK as I believe it didn't do that well first time and plus all the money made is going to charities and that was announced AFTER people decided to buy it.

Oh, plus, what was the point of this, people pre-ordering the X-Factor song BEFORE the song and winner was even announced. Mindless sheep doing this on a yearly basis just so we can have the same Number 1 every year, good ole X-Factor's Christmas Number 1, doesn't matter how boring, crap, dull, unoriginal it is, if you've been on the X-Factor you deserve Christmas Number 1 because of all your hard work.

At the end of the day its only music and everyone has their own personal tastes and no one is forcing people to buy these two singles. Just buy what you like and stuff everyone else.

Love how RATM are backing a campaign to damage a working class boy's career - being the socialists they are...how anyone can take anything they sing seriously is beyond me - signed to a major even when they weren't trying to spread a "political" message (Audioslave) - hypocrites.

Well getting to number 1 did Shayne Ward and Leon Jackson's career's the world of good didn't it?
Reign ya neck in. It won't damage his career. The lack of a defined career path that won't go anywhere like Ward and Jackson, will ruin it. This is the only pay day he'll get. Its better that he has a race so the wild foaming fans who are more obsessed with the show than the artist themselves will buy three copies... He'll make more that way.
You may as well criticise Amazon for selling it at 29p instead of 99p and attack them for ruining his career too...

Well yeah, its hard to disagree with that part.

Its called funny. Its about time we rescued the Xmas No. 1 from being owned by Cowell. If you lot are so obsessed with reality shows that you have to buy the single, just get it the week later eh?

Yeah, it's so bad that they are actually happy people want to buy one of their songs, so they can give the money to charity- the evil b*stards!

I never knew the charts had to be a monopoly just because one of the artists happened to be working class either?

Still, since Joe will sell just as many copies of his Miley Cyrus song, with or without RATM also running for no1, if not more, because of the extra hype generated, I do believe your point is null and void

I've never heard either of the songs (from RATM or the guy from X Factor), but I think the campaigns on here are somewhat laughable. As I type there are seven threads on the first page dedicated to RATM alone, all of which could go into one thread.

Makes a change from having at least 5 threads dedicated to each artist who happens to be in the charts.

For example, a typical front page may include: "Lady Gagas new single", "Lady Gagas old single" Lady gaga appreciation thread", "Lady Gagas album", "Lady Gagas performance on the royal variety", "Is Lady Gaga a man" etc...

So if you find this laughable, I suppose you must come here most days and just laugh.

So it looks like Joe has it in the bag. Still, it's been fun

Why does it matter which label the money goes to? I thought it was supposed to be some stand against the x-factor being no1?

The daily fail might mention irony, but that's only because they've missed the point, as usual.

How can professional journalists report that both acts are signed to Sony as if this is shock news they've just uncovered?

So while everyone else is excited about Christmas, you can't wait for it to be over, just because there's a little chart race going on?

Seriously, try not to lose too much sleep over it!
