I've just been reading round the forums and all the Chris supporters are saying he should win because he's so charming, cuddly and cute. Why don't we just give him the trophy now? Forget the dancing!

I would suggest to all Chris supporters the best reply to the OP of this thread is to say nothing at all.

Silence is the best weapon!

I'd go a step further and suggest that fans of either couple or indeed the show in general treat the thread with the contempt it deserves.

So how do suggest we fill/pad out Saturday nights 2hr program then?

With the greatest respect, I'd suggest you 'read round' a little harder, because the claim you make is inaccurate.

Then again, why let the facts stand in the way of another opportunity to slag off Chris?

Unless it's a conspiracy by secret Chris fans - flooding the place with anti-Chris threads in order to ensure more votes come his way .... !!!

The OP indirectly makes an interesting point - by this stage of the series, how much chance is there of the dancing in the final changing the overall voting patterns?

I suppose the key thing is how many people will vote in the final who've never voted before? I'd guess that of those that do, most would vote for Ricky, assuming he is significantly better on the night (which isn't an unreasonable assumption). But conversely, these new voters might also be more attracted by the "personality" aspects of the Chris / Ola partnership, as the regular voters have to date.

Tricky one to call - I suggest tuning in, watching and above all, drinking a "finger" of your favourite tipple whenever a SCD buzz-word is spoken. I had "amazing" as my buzzword last year and was practically comatose before the dancing had even started.

(Actually I am seriously considering asking whether Ricky and Chris, who seem to be good mates, can just turn up on Saturday, perform purely for the fun of it and share the ruddy glitterball)!

I'm getting a bit concerned about their phonebills. I thought there was a recession on

Going back 10 pages on this forum, I counted 27 Anti Chris/Ola and only 12 Pro Chris/Ola.

Speaks for itself.

I agree actually I think a fair majority have already decided who to vote for before the final, the 'wait to see who dances best' voters can only make a difference if the voting is quite close anyway. Think Tom would have won last year even if he had done a terrible show dance that just added extra votes.

Me: floating voter
Husband: floating voter
Parents: floating voters (but they're tight and vote once between them!)
Son number 1: Ricky
Son number 2: Cola

Do you really think he would still have won?

I'm sure some people would still have voted for him, but possibly quite a few people would have been reluctant to pick up the phone after a really poor dance.

I wonder if it would also have affected those that vote more than once, in that after a poor effort in the final but a good overall series they may vote once but perhaps wouldn't vote multiple times.

I think you may find the reason for this apparent disparity is that Chris and Ola's fans have so much of their time taken up responding to criticisms of them that are seldom backed up with any fact or logic and instead dominated by personal attacks on them, Chris' fiancee and family and his 'thick', 'deluded' and 'gullible' supporters.

Which I think you may find says rather more ...

I think he would yes.....I think his votes were too far ahead of Rachel to make any significant difference.

On the night of the final, as long as they don't make any major mistakes, I think the best dancer will win. Common sense usually prevails at the end. I did say, "Usually".
Anyway why worry? It's an enjoyable show, we all love it. Christmas is coming, we will have other things to think about next week and as long as no-one dies, all will be well.

We could turn this argument on its head and suggest we leave out ITT and the interviews with the couples and take away the public vote (given the majority of us are not experts) if the show is just about the dancing

But it's not.

I think the tour will be interesting .... because although it is still a public vote .. it is all about the dancing then .. after all, if you've paid for a ticket you are going to want to get your moneys worth by seeing some top notch dancing .... you're not going to see any 'behind the scenes' stuff or interviews ... which is why Rachel, Matt D, Louisa and Gethin won far more shows than Tom or Darren G

Oh I dunno - Julian Clarey won a few tour shows

I think your post counts as an anti Chris, not too sure.

I am not too sure of what facts and logic you can use in deciding who you like and dislike.

You either do or you don't.

I think you are putting too much effort into not liking COLA.

Or perhaps you are like Jacqueline and are a compulsive giggler and not taking this seriously at all.

Julian won 3 I think .. but he was incredibly funny ... hysterically so infact and his interaction with the judges at the end of his dances was hilarious (intimating that Lilia was drunk and that he was covering for her etc etc) ... and I think that is why he won those shows (plus he used to say it would make his sick mother feel so much better) )

Well, I can hazard a very good guess why Jacqueline was a compulsive giggler - and I'm certainly not doing what she did at my desk! I hope you're not ...

I'm not, as I suspect you well know, asking people to justify in facts why they like/dislike anyone. As if.

I'm talking about a handful of posters hurling accusations at Chris for his behaviour off the dancefloor which conflicts with everything we've seen; and inaccurate descriptions of why his fans vote for him (e.g. the OP: 'all the Chris supporters').

Hope that's clear!

*goes back to playing with metal flower*

(With apologies to non-Blake's 7 fans for any apparently strange references in the above ... )

Playing with the metal flower is something my namesake was seen to do on-screen occasionally (Series Two, if I recall).

As for the giggling ... I can't say in a forum like this - - but there was once a very amusing story on popbitch about JP that I think Poison_Feng is alluding to ...?
