Come on RATM.

I like Joe, seems like a really nice guy, but the song he was given is pure sh*t and I still hold the belief that artists ought to work to deserve to get a #1, not get it handed to them on a silver platter...

I didn't say that it was anything new, just that it is, and has been a corrosive influence on the music industry in general from a good taste point of view, if not from a financial point of view.

Reality TV music talent shows, and the X-Factor specifically, make their money from exploitation of contestants and viewers. The love of music is not what Simon Cowell is in the business for.

Yes, I'm seriously hoping that Joe makes it to number one for Christmas.

Bleugh. Let's get some real music to #1........how is the winner of a reality tv competition more worthy of a number one than a long-running group who write their own songs and don't rely on a huge Cowell-media-machine for their success?

I'm a fan of the Blessington Carriage pub in Derby, and the owner made an interesting point. He seems to think that the X Factor is damaging, not just because it's safe, inoffensive pap, but because it's making people stay in on a Saturday night and not going pubs, gigs, and the cinema. Ok, so he does have a vested interest, but it is something to think about.

I've bought RATM, but then I do like the song.

Why should these campaigners get their way ? They've thrown their rattle out of their pram.

Why should the x factor winner always get their own way and get to number 1?

It's time for a change.

I can think of no reason why they shouldn't get their way.

I see no reason why Joe fans shouldn't get their way either.

Hence the whole point of the campaign no doubt. Simon Cowell spectacularly missed the point last week when he talked about how bad the xmas No1s had been in the past so therefore couldn't see the point in the RATM campaign.

The reason people in this country loved the xmas No1 race was not the quality of the songs but the race itself and having a wee bet on who might win. Bob the Builder v Eminem where the heck in the world would you see that but Britain. It's mad, it's eccentric but it's British and we all enjoyed it.

The Hype surrounding the X Factor guarantees a No 1 so why out of a possible 52 weeks of the year pick this one and rob people of a tradition we've had for decades.

If the RATM campaign doesn't win this year then it'll be back next year and the year after with another band and track.

I've listened to both songs now about half a dozen times ... and the RATM song, Killing In The Name is bloody brilliant. Whereas Simon's song (and lets face it ... its Simon's song ... not Joe's - OK via Miley) is pure, unadulterated crap!

About to download RATM now.

Treat yourself to the album you will not regret it.

I bought the single on Monday (Rage) I have owned it for years but I bought a live version which counts towards the chart sales. I think I might buy it again tomorrow, just to make sure

Some of the proceeds from Killing In the Name by Rage Against the Machine will be going to the charity Shelter. All proceeds from that horrid song by the X Factor guy will be going to Simon Cowell .. Let your conscience decide!

I've just posted on another forum (BJ) that I'll probably buy the album anyway.

I just so, so want this campaign to succeed on another level though.

3 to 1 isn't really enough, they need 4 to 1 for 3 solid days to have a good chance of beating him. If they did much less than 75K sales on Thursday they are finished (they'll have lost momentum for 2 successive days).

Unless... the snow keeps a lot of potential Joe buyers at home on Friday.

Just downloaded RATM ten times. Always been a good track.

Just a thought, in 15 years, will people be buying Joe's records? the answer is obvious.
