That would be the best thing that could ever happen!!!!

I don't mind homosexuality having a place on Doctor Who at all, but the idea of a romantic relationship between the doctor and another male character would be a step too far. The doctor should remain strictly asexual from now on.

I can guarantee almost as strongly as if I were the Moff himself that will not happen. He may not have Rose-style stories, but he will certainly always be a sexual creature who snogs and flirts.

The Doctor... Dances.

(The only reason we don't see more of it is that after 900 years he needs a Viagra tablet the size of a TARDIS (inside, not outside))

Viagra tablet?! XD

As long as we aren't subjected to another tedious love story between the doctor and his companion, then I won't be too concerned.

+1.

Much prefer the dynamics of Donna and the Doctor, over any relationship between him and rose or him and martha.

I didn't mind the tedious love story as much as I minded the tedious two-series aftermath of the love story. I agree that Doctor/Donna relationships are better than Doctor/Rose style - but the Doctor himself should not be portrayed as an asexual being. I also don't want to see Star Trek-style love story of the week "I love you, I love you, let's snog, oops, a monster just killed you, how sad, I guess I'll never think about or mention you again."

I do worry sometimes that the Moff has a tendancy towards that kind of story from Girl in the Fireplace and the Library two-parter.
Spoiler
(Only worse thing than River Song being forgotten and never seen or mentioned again is bringing her back, and it seems we're getting that anyway.)

Newbie, technically neither Reinette or River got killed by a monster. Reinette died of illness (unless you count Murphy's Law as a monster) and River killed herself...but I get your point completely.

But you'll be glad to hear that Moffat firmly believes that Doctor Who works at its best when each episode contrasts the previous one completely, so you wont have to worry about consecutive 'love-story' of the week episodes.

I think Doc Eleven will have a purely platonic love for Amy, if not just a Donna-esque brother/sister bond.

But I also think we'll see the Doc lock lips with characters outside the TARDIS.

I was mocking the Star Trek romance story style, not those stories directly. But I really did think the Girl in the Fireplace suffered from the supposedly authentic romantic overtones. I greatly prefer passing banter that the adults can appreciate and doesn't distract too much from the story as between Shakespeare and Martha.

I think they should bring it back for 7 weeks in Jan-Mar, and then have the 14 episodes Nov-Feb next year. I'm usually away weekends when it's on in the summer and my video recorder sometimes packs up in the warm weather.

Think all of the above posts having a stab at me are from users who need to get a job in Gorden Browns Government ... worrying about absolutely nothing when the entire world is turning to sh*te...

If RTD hasn't got a gay agenda with that show then I'm Saddam Hussain... All I'm saying is I accept it, it don't matter cos they are just fleeting references... If it's really all about equality then where are the Disabled people, Paraplegics and Down Syndromes?... Where are the Indians? How often doe the Chineese get a look in? Every now and again when they give Chippo Chang a ten minute token spell... Jim Royle... Equality my Arse   ”

But surely you are worrying about nothing. Any gay references are so fleeting in the Whoniverse.

I'd like to add, I am gay, have no agenda and certainly don't have a seige mentality.

By the way I took no offense with your original post, but if someone did then it is obviously offensive to some people.

At the end of the day if RTD really had a gay agenda he would have made it more apparent. I swear only straight people notice the gay content, cause I must have missed the ten minute scenes of same sex couples getting it on.

I'd be quite happy with this situation- I don't object to the Doctor having romantic relationships in general, but didn't like the 10th Doctor/Rose situation- I found both of them annoying, her particularly, when together (but like both of them in other situations- Rose was great in series 1 and I loved the 10th Doctor travelling with his best friend Donna), and the romance was never quite believable.

River Song could be very interesting- we know she has some sort of longstanding relationship with the Doctor, and she may travel with him for a short while at some point, but it's implied that by and large they live their own lives but meet up regularly (not in the same order for them both). I get the impression she's intelligent and quite independant, possibly as near to being the Doctor's equal as a human can be. So completely different to Rose. Of course I may hate it when we see their relationship on screen, but I'm hopeful that it could work well.

That's because you were starring in them.

Since there are 13 episodes in a series they'd have to greatly change their production schedule. Also, having it run Nov. to Feb would make the Christmas special just a regular mid-series episode, rather than something people look forward to for months.

In this age of iPlayer, Sky+, DVDs and endless repeats there's really no need to miss an episode if its first transmission isn't at a convenient time. And it only goes into the first two weeks of summer (under typical scheduling).

Am really sorry but I'm tediously bored of this now. Its not even a topic I have any strong opinions about so I'm sorry but I'm not going any further with this...

Fine. But please, if you make a comment, then allow people the right to respond without becoming bored of something you started.

I for one have said you didn't offend me, so please don't be discourteous to me now. You obviously did have strong opinions on it otherwise your comment would never have made the thread. You're simply retracting now.

best and merry christmas
