I can view Powewrpoint files (containing photos) on my laptop. Is it possible to view these on the television via the Humax Foxsat HDR? If so, what would I have to do?

Thanks

I'm quite sure that *.ppt format files wouldn't be recognised but if you save each slide as a JPG, you could probably open them on the Foxsat HDR from a USB stick.

You could capture a powerpoint show as an avi and convert to HDR video format (I think) - there has been success I understand in converting to HDR format. To capture the powerpoint show to video I use Camtasia from TechSmith, not free (unless you find a cover disk with it on) but really good.

First you need to export the presentation as a video using 25fps either 720 x 576 or 1920 x 1080

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...ort+powerpoint

Then you need to convert to m2ts using TSmuxergui.

Then you need AV2HDR to create the 3 files that the hdr needs. Copy these to pen drive and they should play fine

Thanks to miriyo, swedish cook and grahamthompson for your replies. It is more complicated than I thought. I wondered if at the same time the file is playing on the laptop it can also be viewed on the tv.

If your laptop has a dvi or hdmi output then this should work with a Hd ready TV (using a DVi to hdmi lead if it's DVI and you will need to make other arrangements for the audio). Alternatively some laptops have s-video out.

This is correct as I've tried it although my laptop made me select between the TV monitor or the laptop screen. I couldn't seem to get playback on both at the same time.

I can only speak for my laptop (and one I used to borrow from work for presentations using a projector) repeated presses of the function key gives laptop only, TV only and then both.

Thanks again Miriyo and grahamlthompson for your advice. Unfortunately my lap top has only VGA output. As there is no easy and inexpensive solution to what I wanted to do I am not desperate enough to make any changes. I have no doubt that others will benefit from your advice.

I have found a partial answer to the question I posted on 17.12.09.

My LG LCD tv has a RGB input ( for 15 pin) connection and my laptop has a VGA connection. I used a VGA cable with 15 pin male connectors at each end and connected my laptop to the tv. What was displayed on the laptop appeared on the tv without me having to do anything else. Perfect picture on the tv, however I had to rely on my laptop for the sound.

That's because you forgot to connect the sound lead as well - you need a 3.5mm stereo jack to jack - the audio input on the TV should be close to the VGA socket.

Hi Nigel, thanks for the suggestion, but the only other connections available on my Dell Inspiron 1545 are 3 USB ports.

Thanks grahamlthompson for your reply. I did not realise that the 'headphone out' is the one to connect to the tv for sound. Sorry for the late reply .
