Would Joe be good enough to make it without the X-factor?

I just want to know if anyone thinks Joe would have been strong enough to make it on his own- without the help of the X-factor?

Would he have got a record deal? Outside the context of the X-factor, would he be relevant to people?

If the answer is yes- then I'd say there must be hundreds of similar solo male artists out there that don't make it. Why the fascination with Joe?

isn't that why people enter x factor in the first place?

they just want instant fame and fortune, and success and record sales handed to them on a plate, as opposed to being individual artists and striving to make decent music.

I think Joe will go the same way as Leon Jackson and Gareth Gates and be yesterday's news. He's got a good enough voice. doesn't exactly set the world on fire though. I'm sure there are others that can sing just as well as he can.
There's nothing different about him or his voice.
JLS are my favourites and they were runners up. Alexandra and Leona so far are doing well enough. They are what is current and wanted.
But in ten years time or more will we remember them and other X factor winners and runners up. Will they all stand the test of time? Somehow I doubt it.

No he wouldn't. Nice lad ... but I've heard loads of kids as good as him at my kid's school concerts.

No-one who doesn't write lyrics gets record deals without going on a platform. Britney, Justin Timberlake, Jonas Brothers etc... all went on a talent show when they were much younger before signing up with Disney.

He's another Leon. I've nothing against him, but he's totally unspectacular. The sad thing is, if he'd worked his way up he'd have improved and gained himself a unique persona. The X-Factor has actually scuppered his chances of being a musician.

The show makes the star. That's the point of it.

No.

You can find that sort of characterless vibrato-ey blandness in any stage school in the UK, and it's straight to the chorus of Les Mis for them

Erm... No. Not in a hundred billion trillion years.

12 years ago and as part of a boy band he would have made it I think. Not now on his own though

Unfortunately he can't sing, has zero charisma and he looks ridiculous. It's unlikely he will be replacing Steven Tyler in Aerosmith. He makes JLS look talented (ok, maybe that is a step too far)

I haven't read past here, because I don't know by what technical measure Joe can be judged as being unable to sing..so your entire post falls down there.

I'm not even a Joe fan either, but blatant nonsense such as this has to be pulled up.

He has the vocal ability of a very poor karaoke singer. He has no real vocal talent.

I'm glad you hold his extremely limited vocal abilities in such high esteem. He fits in nicely with vocal greats such as Danni Minogue, Gareth Gates, Cheryl Cole and various other professional mime acts. Happy listening.

I never voted for Joe, and couldn't care less whether he won or not, but to suggest he can't sing, is ridiculous.

I do have Cheryl Cole in my music collection actually, so what? I also have the likes of Metallica, Beethoven, Rascal Flatts, UB-40, Ingrid Michaelson, David Guetta, Nathalie Simard, Jamie Cullum, and so on..

Unlike yourself, I don't limit myself musically, and generally will enjoy on some level, any form of music.

Isn't the question - will he make it with the x-factor?

Simples...no.

Reason...
1. He is just another pretty boy
2. Bog standard singer
3. He doesn't stand out at all. What makes him unique and
different to everything else out there?

Neither Joe Alex or Leona (or anyone else connected with the show) would have had one tenth of the success they have had without the influence of the brand.

XF has become one huge gravy train which just gets bigger and bigger. The problem is the influence over British music that the tv show projects is far far greater than it ever should be.

Very true my friend. My hope is that, because it has got far too big, it will implode. Here's hoping ay! So sick of brand Cowell.

No he wouldn't have got anywhere, but thats the point of the show, and its predecessor.
Ultimately will he have longevity like Leona, Will Young, Girls Aloud and it seems JLS are getting?
Will he be a jury out like Alexandra?
Or will he be a Brookstein, Michelle McManus or Leon Jackson.
I'm betting the latter group. He'll get a stage career I'm betting.

Someone told me last weekend that "Joe would put the North East on the map!"

My reply was "What?!"

So, AC/DC, Jimmy Nail, Dire Straits, The Wildhearts, Sting, Alan Shearer, The Lighthouse Family, Jackie Milburn, Paul Gascoigne, The Animals, Ant and Dec, The Likely Lads, Newcastle Brown Ale, Bobby and Jackie Charlton, Steve Cram, Maximo Park, The Futureheads, Jonathan Edwards, Alan Robson etc etc etc etc haven't already.

He quickly shut up

No, he wouldn't Im afraid. All these average contestants would have no hope of getting contracts. The judges just big them up because they are the best of a bad bunch, and don't want to admit that credible singers wouldn't bother applying for XF.
