Hi,

I logged in to my itunes store and saw this:

http://i50.tinypic.com/121bxhu.jpg

Rest assured I bought 'Killing In The Name' instead!
I've bought it three times now, I feel I should buy it more knowing it all goes to charity...

It doesn't all go to charity, only 1/8 (one band member) goes to charity. Also what the picture about? I don't get it.

It's been like that all week (the Joe picture plug). But it rotates to plug other music as well, including RATM, as of a couple of days ago.

Btw, i think you are all really sad for buying that song 3 times. TBH RATM have had their turn in the sunlight and this song didnt get much success. Give a new artist a chance, This petition is silly, and the charity part, theirs loads of songs that are for charity, did you ever buy "Just Stand Up", "Lhuna"? then if not why buy this? Did you buy Joes first single with the other x factor people, "Youre Not Alone" FACE IT U DIDNT

***k you i won't do what you tell me

I've bought RATM 9 times now (from 8 different sites) only twice on amazon.

I'd already mentioned the itunes plug in other thread. Amazon has the same thing as well.

Why is it sad? It just shows that a HELL of a lot of people are sick and tired of the manufactured shite churned out every year through XF.

Where are the dirty tactics? A prominent song being displayed prominently, with the outside chance of an advertising budget being involved?

Oh, those demons!

I do think it really is quite pathetic these people that are buying RATM more than once.

They whinge on about the Cowell creating an artificial number one, and then artifically distort the chart by making another song number one.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want X Factor to dominate the christmas chart every year either, but this RATM campaign is so heavily fuelled by arrogant music snobs and it's utterly preposterous in my opinion.

And before anyone starts shouting at me, I have downloaded RATM because I quite like the song and would rather it beat Joe. Not because I've got a massive bee in my bonnet about music I don't like being more popular

Or.. it shows a fair few are sad enough to buy the same song numerous times because they can't accept any opinion other than their own is right.

Well think WHY does the X factor song go to number one every year? Because people want to buy it.

Although I despise the X factor, I fail to see how a song being popular is a bad thing. I just don't really understand the point of the RATM campaign, from what I've seen on twitter and facebook, it is fuelled heavily by music snobbery ie. a bunch of NME reading arrogant people ranting about how anything mainstream is 'bad music' or whatever.

Actually it was started entirely by someone on face book as an angst against the x-factor’s Xmas no.1 dominance not the x-factor itself. WHICH I argue it still at its raw core but the kind of music snobs you mentioned have also jumped on the back of it as well.

And I do say that as someone who by chance happens to be a music snob who does hate the x-factor and likes this kind of music but in this instance it’s a coincidence. I bought Jeff Buckley last year as well (even though I didn't like it)

I do agree it's a bit pointless; I haven't bought the song, I have it already. Not that the charts mean anything to me now, but when I was younger I have fond memories of the anticipation of finding out the Christmas No.1, which we don't get these days.

I agree, I hate how Cowell releases the song purely so it will become Christmas number one. I can't for the love of me understand why they don't just release a Christmas song, it would be far more popular. But this RATM campaign is just as bad IMO - instead of Cowell 'telling' everyone to buy this track', people are just joining a facegroup group which is 'telling' them to buy another track

But there's manufactured sh!te all year long in the charts. Not just christmas. Pixie Lott, JLS, Alexandra Burke, Leona Lewis, Cheryl Cole X Factor, X Factor X Factor...

Very true, I just think people are a bit fed up of Simon Cowell releasing any old crap every Christmas and expecting it to get to No.1.

Totally agree with this spot on.

The majoraty of so called 'kids' who buy the a factor record are the same people who buy all the other records that get to number one all year round and have dictated the charts for a while now. So we have them dedicating their money to it week in week out, and now are being dictated by people who largely don't give a sh!t about chart music in the first place, "real music isn't chart music" "chart music isn't my thing" how to spend their money all of sudden on it for "christmas week". It's not YOUR charts.

It's a popularity contest at the end of the day, if the X Factor sells 500,000, better than all it's competitors every year, then that's the way it is. It's a very popular programme and the records reflect that obviously. I hate the X Factor, but I can accept that.

If people are treating it as a bit of fun or to add a little variety and spice to the Christmas no.1 race; already succeeded, so well done. Anyone who ends up liking RATM having not heard them before; even better. Charity benefiting: icing on the cake.

The few people buying a song they don't like because they like Cowell even less though are on to a hiding to nothing; this won't lead to his downfall.

He doesn't 'expect' it, I just can't understand how after 5 series, plus all the pop idols and how predictably the acts disappear, how the whole thing manages to get 20 million viewers still.

But if he people SOMEHOW keep managing to buy 500,000 records every week for it then that makes it very difficult. Cowell doesn't force you to buy it. The public are to blame but then again that's up to them not for me to tell than how to buy it.

The point is people are fed up with x factor being xmas number one every year!
i dont like the RATM song but then I dont like the x factor one either, out of principle in agreement that x factor shouldnt dominate the charts every xmas ive brought RATM.

So you're replacing one thing you don't like with another.
