I'm not that fussed about who is number one, simply because the charts are irrelevent to me,probably always was.But it is nice to witness a great, yet underrated band like RATM given such publicity.I always felt Zack is one of the best front men in mainstream music.

However,Bullet in the Head would have been a slightly more suitible choice, considering what this rebellion against the X factor is about.

What annoys me about many of these contestents/winners is their actual lack of ambition, outside of money and false adoration. They have nearly all good to excellent singing voices, but none seem to desire creating their own style. They could complement their voices by seeking out different musicians, writing songs, creating demos etc.

Some do,but not many.

I mean John Lydnon has a technically crap singing voice, but it didn't matter. The Sex Pistols and P.I.L are testement to that.

It's sad how these 18 year olds are actually happy playing the role of a third rate Daniel O' Donnell, living off the back of forgettable ballads, teens that find them attractive, and grannies dismissive of anything but safe middle of the road stuff.

Furthermore a lot of the comments by RATM supporters on Joe's youtube video, iTunes and Amazon song pages are pretty disgusting and very homophobic. I know not all of the supporters are like that, but it does make the whole campaign seem rather mean AND personal.”

I think I can be safe in saying that Rage Against The Machine would be the first to be disgusted by any homophobic comments about Joe or anybody else. Whether or not you like their music they wouldn't want that. And nor would I. attacking someone personally over this is disgusting.

I do however love the RATM campaign just because it's got people buying songs, got people listening to a band like Rage for the first time. Whether you like them is irrelevant.

Rage Against the Machine v Joe McElderry: It's bloody brilliant!

I'm so bored of the x factor being number 1 every christmas. The same boring old ballads churned out year after year but that RATM song is such a pile of tuneless shouting garbage. How anyone can listen to that drivel and think "Ooh this is great" is beyond me.

Without a shadow of a doubt.

The majority of people would agree. Sadly in any large group (particular in the safely anonymous realm of the Net) you'll get idiots.
