I'm in a state of shock. Why? I've just heard who will knock four times!

This came from a friend of a friend of a friend whose girlfriend was on the tea trolly during filming (or something like that) so I'm not sure how much truth there is to this, but...

Spoiler

It's Wilf!!!!

Apparently the doctor survives to the end of part 2 and is not killed by the master/aliens, however in the closing battle Donna saves the doctor but is killed or fatally wounded in some way in the process. Wilf comes to the tardis and asks the doctor for help, but he says NO (even if he wanted to, he can't go back...) - 3 TIMES.

Wilf returns to the tardis and KNOCKS FOR A FOURTH time. Realising that he owes his existence to Donna he reluctantly agrees to save her knowing what it will mean for him

sounds plausible. I like it. whether it's true or not, I guess we'll only find out in 7 days or 14 days, depending on which episode the answer is revealed.

Not true. Filming of scenes of that nature were closed to all but the most necessary cast and crew. No tea trolly ladies allowed.

You should find yourself some better friends (of friends of friends), because somewhere down the line is someone who delights in telling big fat porkies.

Quite apart from that, it's an utterly daft explanation for "he will knock 4 times."

What will really happen is that Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory will knock three times, because he always knocks three times.

I don't think it is utterly daft at all - even if it is a lie, I think it's quite an ingenious twist on the "knock four times" idea

No - it's the kind of convoluted overthinking only found on forums and never on an actual show.

Wilf not only asking three times and being refused but actually leaving the TARDIS and knocking on the door after each time and then being told yes on the fourth?

Tacky, a waste of precious air time and stupid beyond belief.

I can't picture the Doctor rubbing Sheldon's belly, but aside from that it would be Sheldon't dream come true - assuming having the Doctor and Spock jointly adopt him is out of the question.

I can totally imagining that happening!

I'd have loved a cross over between Sheldon and DT's Doctor, would never happen, but just imagine Sheldon telling the Doctor he was wrong about something! It'd be hilarious.

Actually after his last appearance the master has a new song

"Oh, my Doctor

Knock four times on the TARDIS if you want me

Twice on the pipe if the answer is no"

while middle aged women are forced to do the slosh

I'm sorry it's late

NOW we know why John Barrowman is making an appearance in the Finale!

Wanna know something, "NewbieCanuck"? This is an opinion forum and EVERYONE is entitled to express one. Not just you, and not just opinions that you agree with. Please don't be so nasty to other posters.

Oddly enough, everyone would include NewbieCanuck and his opinion of someone else's opinion is a perfectly valid opionion. As you say, this is a discussion forum where we discuss opinions.

I like the plot twist idea thats it's who you say it is, but I've read your statement three times now and can't make head nor tail of what the 3 or 4 knocks explanation is...

True. But it's not what you say, it's HOW you say it. There are polite ways of disagreeing with someone's opinion, then there are the nasty, belittling ways. IMO, NewbieCanuck's response to another poster fell into the latter category, and there was no need for it. And I am not the only person who has posted to that effect.

Not nasty in the least. The nasty person is the one who made up a story in order to fool gullible people. I am not required to pretend to be stupid in order to let that nasty person get away with it.

Remember, this isn't someone's theory or speculation that I'm criticising. It's presented to us as what ACTUALLY happens. They made it up and pretended to have inside information. Nasty and cruel.

(I'm not referring to the OP, but to the person who made up the story he was told)

But it isn't an "opinion." It's a lie. When someone deliberately sets out to fool people there's no requirement to respect them or their ideas. And to be brutally honest, I have very little respect for someone who can't understand the difference between legitimate speculation and a great big porkie that someone cooked up in order to laugh at the people silly enough to believe it.

It may very well be untrue, but you know this - how? Have you seen both parts of The End of Time? Do you know any of the actors or production crew? Do you know RTD? How do you have concrete inside information? Do tell. I'm all ears.

We will find out wether the OP's post turns out to be true or false when we see the specials, until then we simply don't know.

For you to say outright that this person is lying when in truth there is no way for you to actualy know this yet is a bit off. So unless you have absolute proof that the claim was fabricated, and I can't see how you could have, then perhaps you should hold off on the unsubstantiated accusations and simply (and politely) agree to disagree with the OP's claim.

The fact that you think that it is a lie is simply your opinion, it is not a known fact as of yet.

Personaly I am inclined to doubt the OP's post even though I think it sounds interesting, but then again I could be wrong. We will simply have to wait and see.

Perhaps this is that really long scene between DT and BC which was mentioned! It's not actually poignant and an acting tour de force, it's just Wilf knocking four times and being rejected three of those.

But if the Doctor did save Donna in the manner you speak of, then he would no longer exist in the first place to go back and save her, because saving her would mean that version of him would never exist to go back and save her because she never saved him in the first place. If you follow me? And I dont think you can say wibley wobbley timey wimey for that.

Just a quick comment; under some (most?) epistemic theories, something can still be a lie even if the content of the lie eventually proves to be true. If I told you that it was going to snow on the 15th March 2010 in London, I'd definitely be lying as I couldn't possibly know that. It might still snow, but I'd have made up the content rather than basing it on evidence. However, a lie must also be wilful. You can't accidentally lie, it is an intentional act.

I'm not accusing the OP of lying — I have no evidence or opinion either way — but thought it was worth clearing up some definitions so we don't get all hot-headed unnecessarily. Some people get really offended by the idea of lying, and so it is, in my opinion, worth understanding what lying is.

You're not the same Jakes_stuff who got into some pretty heated debated about whether "Utopia" contradicted the ending of series 1 of Torchwood then?
