''No on cares about it''

..except for the fact that millions do.
I’m not denying that underground acts are extremely popular. Of course they’re popular. (Especially if you take into account that certain underground acts are less underground in other countries and have huge international followings). But when these acts not plugged by the mainstream, there’s inevitably a limit to how much of the population will be aware of them.

All I’m saying is that if you stopped 100 people in the street and asked them to name a few RATM songs, probably 95%+ of them wouldn’t be able to. Therefore, these songs are not “generally” regarded as classics, only amongst fans of the genre.

And that’s the only point SuperWomble was making, yet he/she was flamed for it. I thought that was a bit unfair.

There are hundreds of songs that I (and possibly millions like me) regard as “classics”, but we represent a tiny proportion of the overall population. I can’t expect these songs to ever gain the mass recognition that I think they deserve.

You seem to think we're arguing that RATM are as famous as Michael Jackson.
I wasn’t trying to make the point that RATM aren’t widely recognised, I was just explaining SuperWomble’s point. Because people seemed to be of the impression that he/she was dismissing the band as worthless. He/she wasn’t doing that, only pointing out that these type of songs will never “classic” status by the majority of people.

If you actually believe you know about the genre don't come on here saying you've never heard of them.
I didn’t say that, I said I’ve heard of them but I don’t recall any of their songs in particular. And I don’t believe I know about the genre, because I don’t even know what genre they are (as I can’t remember their songs). It sounds similar to Clawfinger from what I can make out, but that’s not a genre I know much about at all, and I don’t particularly like that kind of music anyway.

You seem to think they're trying to appeal to the casual pop music fan who spends Saturday watching garbage like X-Factor, something which confuses music with entertainment and is only created to convert cash.
That’s not what I think.
