Shane Lynch has reportedly said that his Boyzone bandmate Stephen Gately died for a reason.

The singer admitted that although he is still coming to terms with the tragic loss, 'life doesn't stand still' for anyone.

Lynch, 33, told The Sun: "I've got faith and respect for God - God doesn't make mistakes. So therefore, I've got to understand that it's all for a reason. If I don't understand why then one day I'll be told - but not right now."

What a pile of unutterable excrement.
Wow... and I thought people on the Showbiz forum were the worst on DS... guess I was wrong.

Yeah, let's all abuse the grieving friend cos he believes in God!

Is being atheist an excuse for attacking the comments of someone struggling to get over the death of a loved one?
Good point.

Sounds like a man still struggling to come to terms with and find reasoning for the sudden death of his friend - so of course a fine target for a bitchy comment about how he's talking crap.
Totally agree!
Although I don't agree with what he said, it's clearly just his way of tryng to deal with the grief.

except he didn't choke on his own vomit.

He died of a pulmonary oedema, due to an undetected hear condition. It goes to prove how easily people believe that they read in The Sun before a post mortem had even been carried out though!
I wish I had a hear condition every time Boyzone are played on the radio (i.e. I wish I was dead).

Has this information (the underlying cause of the pulmonary oedema) ever been made official though? It's entirely possible for vomiting to cause it.

i expected a lot of eye-rolling from people who don't believe in the same things shane obviously does, but i wasn't quite prepared for the bile spewing from some posters just because they don't believe in God themselves.

The coroner explicitly ruled it out. And yes the official coroner's verdict was released weeks ago. Like I said, less headline grabbing though, isn't it? And again this reinforces how effective the sun is at getting people to swallow their garbage.

What exactly was the "condition" that he had? The condition which all of a sudden killed him while he was on holiday with his partner and some random foreigner in his house...

Nature took him not "God".
If God is our creator and created nature isn't it one and the same thing.

Anyway I believe in God. Death is a certainty for us all so for me the mystery is about the when and how for me.

I believe there is a reason for this which will remain an mystery.

That is a frustrating concept or idea for many and I understand why people decided there is no God .

Still I struggle with this notion that there can only be a God if good things happen all the time and bad things only happen to bad people.

Who know what happens after death? Should we just assume that is the end- should we assume it is a bad place etc.
If we do not know about something -does that mean it doesnt exist?

"sudden" deaths can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time. they're not picky.

Jan Moir did have a point. I mean, whenever heart experts mention that it can strike anyone, or family members refer to a few past cases of heart issues in Gateley's family, it's only natural to scream 'bullshit! I know better than them; he died of gay'
