"They can't be serious!"

Er, says the man that is covering a Miley Cyrus song

"It's dreadful and I hate it. How could anyone enjoy this?"

Oh, the irony

"Simon Cowell wouldn't like it. They wouldn't get through to boot camp on The X Factor"

A sign of quality then?

"I will be really disappointed if it doesn't go to No1 after all the effort I've put in to this"

Suddenly, the deluded sap thinks he's made more effort than all the other people that could go to no1

Why? They're hardly outlandish quotes.

Did you expect him to hear it and be a fan?

He seems to have developed a little ego all of a sudden. I suppose it's the result of being surrounded by people constantly telling him how great he is- he suddenly thinks he deserves to be no1 more than anyone else.

hahahaha! just when you think you've seen it all!

just another deluded kid who believes anything Cowell tells him. what a loser.

he wouldn't know good music if it smacked him in the face, as his comments today prove. no wonder he entered x factor.

this little mummys boy thinks its his right to be #1.

These shows need stopping because real artists start in clubs or on the street and get fan bases there not by trying too look good on a tv show. anyway joe won't be around in 19 months never mind 19 years like rage.

Poor deluded young Joe. Unfortunately this is the problem with X F*ctor. The winners seem to think it's their god given right to number 1. How about all the artists who properly work hard to get a record deal without all the help from Cowell and co? They aren't guaranteed a number one unless they actually produce good original music.

18-year old listens to song; doesn't like it. The kid himself is harmless and inoffensive, remember that he's really peripheral to all this campaigning. He could have been anyone.

Got nothing against him but the X Factor's always the same and it's no wonder a lot of people are sick of the same old stuff.

Simon Cowell's 5 easy steps to affording that new Rolls Royce:

1) Release X Factor winner's song near xmas
2) Make sure the song is a cover and the video contains emotional scenes of tears, cheering, the audience etc.
3) Release album, be sure to have a title that is emotional, I dreamed a dream, that sort of thing.
4) ???
5) Profit!

Sometimes there is a 6) for the artist - that is fade into obscurity and for Cowell and co it is go to 1).

I personally have nothing against him. I just don't think he should expect a number 1 with his first release.

Bets on his number 2 single (though his 1st single is also a 'number 2') not even making the Top 10? In a year's time, he'll be reduced to doing crap like 'I'm a Zelebrity...get me some publicity' and so on.

bye bye little boy...bye bye.

7) time the single and album release so that it coincides with the x factor live shows the next year, in order to allow them to blatantly promote the first proper single in front of 10+ million viewers to maximize sales - while Cowell tells everyone how 'great' they are and how they have 'worked hard' and 'deserve success'.

Who the hell does this Rage Against The Machine think they are anyway? don't they know Joe McElderry worked hard to win the right to put out music on a TV show instead of gigging around venues and festivals all over the world promoting albums as well as charities and causes like this Rage Against The Machine people have?

Don't they know that playing musical instruments, writing your own lyrics and song structures and putting out original material is so very 20 years ago too? who actually picks up a guitar and learns how to play it these days to try and bid to become a pop star eh?

If Zack De La Rocha, Brad Wilk, Timmy C and Tom Morello bothered to mime adequately and lip-sync in time to a backing track, get a guy like Brian Friedman in to help them with some perfunctory choreography and also employ a stylist to make them look a bit more photogenic for Heat Magazine then perhaps their music would be slightly more acceptable to the many millions who have embraced Joe McElderry as their new musical Messiah.

Its just an observation innit?

Incredible!

His arrogance has turned me from someone who couldn't be arsed to put their hand in their pocket to pay for either single, to someone who will now make a personal effort to buy RATM and try and get them to No1.

I've also just seen a picture of this kid on the Sun website. I thought people said he was 'Brtiain's Zac Efron'?!

If that's the case then we're a f**k ugly nation.

He shouldn't expect the no.1, but it's not arrogant of him to say he thinks the song is crap. Bringing up his appearance - really?

Are you sure he actually said that. If he did he is only saying what thousands of us think

Did any of you even watch the video? He didn't come across as arrogant at all, he seemed very laid back and basically just said RATM "wasn't his thing", and that's perfectly reasonable. The article has taken his comments completely out of context (then again, I doubt The Sun cares about things like that).

I did and he did, but I've also seen the picture of him and the darts and that changes everything.

Well said Joe.

A genuiune down to earth northern lad who knows good music when he hears it

eg Dance With My Father , Dont Stop Believing etc

I dont particularly like The Climb, but Joe didnt choose to release it.

But its a damn sight more acceptable as a Christmas No1 than RATM

I doubt he said that. Perhaps he said something along those lines, but I doubt he said that. Those quotes are so cliched, and the Sun isn't exactly adverse to making up bullshit about people to get a story, is it?

Also, last time I looked, Joe seemed pretty sporting about the whole thing.

True.

Who coerced him into throwing darts at a picture of Zach though?

I know it's just a joke, but it's childish, and his silly, smug expression doesn’t help- particularly since RATM have said they have nothing against Joe.

They’ve giving the money to charity too, so I think its poor form from Joe, and not good for his ‘nice guy’ image.

I feel sorry for him. The picture with the darts shows how easy manipulated and naive he is! He''s getting the VIP treatment today, watch them rubbish him next month.

I know he won't bite the hand that feeds him but it's Cowell's attitude that's caused all this. Cowell who smugly announced to us all that we should be glad of him as he killed the Christmas number one contest. We all know they were usually shit novelty songs, but we don't need him telling us what we should buy!

Morello called Joe's song "schmaltzy crap" or whatever but X-Factor fans didn't jump on it because, well, it's his opinion.
