It isn't Joe's song, it's a Miley Cyrus song, but point taken.

If Joe had made any intelligent points though or said anything with any sort of charm or wit, I'd have let him off. Morello came across as articulate and intelligent in his interview on the radio;

Isn't that what people want? A pop star with some balls and charisma? Someone with some individuality, who can write their own material and sounds good too? Robbie had that. Unfortunately, Joe just sounds ok- he has a good voice, but has nothing else. I think that’s why so many people have backed RATM.

Joe is just a dull, charmless, nice, but dim guy, who threw some darts at a dart board with a smug grin, because someone told him to

Of course, he won't address Morello's comment that the Miley song is "schmaltzy crap" directly, or perhaps attempt an intelligent comeback, because it's too close to the truth and any sort of wit would be beyond him.

He’s lucky Cowell has given him this piggyback. Maybe he will be lucky enough to get this Christmas No1, but he should also be happy with No2. It’s still an achievement, considering. After that, I suspect his shelf life will be incredibly limited.

I've bought the RATM song after reading that arrogant little f**kwit's comments.

To say you don't like a song is fair enough, but to call it dreadful and talk like RATM are a bunch of no talents is just pure arrogance (without foundation).

The song doesn't exactly require a techincally great singing voice considering it's style and how it is composed. It just shows the lad doesn't have a clue about music, and why he'll never make it.Maybe a backing singer, but that's all.

I cannot stand "The Climb" or "KITN" but I would prefer KITN to get number one. No offence to Joe, but his song and singing style are amongst the blandest to emerge from the show. If he does get #1 tomorrow, it'll be the only number one single he gets so he should just enjoy it before the inevitable happens and he is dropped from the record label.

So just to check; how dare he say he thinks a song is dreadful or a band are crap when asked about it, but you can say he's clueless, hopeless and an arrogant f**kwit?

Makes sense.

Maybe it was because it is true.

Well, to be fair, the former was an (ill informed) subjective opinion, whereas the latter are statements of fact....

'It wouldn't get through to the X-Factor boot camp' LOL is that a serious quote? He seriously said that? If so, never in the history of humanity has a point been so badly missed, bless him.

Technically he's right about the bootcamp thing, but then you could say the same about Bob Dylan or Tom Waits and they've done alright.

He is, but the point is that as the X-Factor is all about manufactured, packaged music, not true musicians like dylan, ratm etc. The campaign is about people not buying what they are told to like and what is good by cowell, and the total lack of variety in the charts these days.

Don't they know that playing musical instruments, writing your own lyrics and song structures and putting out original material is so very 20 years ago too? who actually picks up a guitar and learns how to play it these days to try and bid to become a pop star eh?

If Zack De La Rocha, Brad Wilk, Timmy C and Tom Morello bothered to mime adequately and lip-sync in time to a backing track, get a guy like Brian Friedman in to help them with some perfunctory choreography and also employ a stylist to make them look a bit more photogenic for Heat Magazine then perhaps their music would be slightly more acceptable to the many millions who have embraced Joe McElderry as their new musical Messiah.

Its just an observation innit?”

brilliant. absolutely brilliant!

I agree with all that, but I just think any bile or anger directed towards Joe in particular is a little out of place. He's a young kid who's taken an opportunity well and is basically being manipulated by a tabloid media he's never had to deal with before. I doubt there's any genuine malice or arrogance in what he says.

There isn't much bile against Joe really in the scheme of things. This is all against Simon Cowell and the campaign is a statement against him. His comments were probably provoked or taken out of context by The Sun anyway.

The Sun probably put words in his mouth. If he did say those things than that is Totally arrogant and the op's comments are spot on. It's blatantly the Sun Trying to stir the pot and sell news papers.

It would be a boring world if everyone loved rock, and we didn't have the manufactured pop bands and X-factor to look down apon.

We need to remember what this is really about, people who ether hate the X-factor and Mr Cowell or just simply love music of the rock or general alternative variety are still here and in great numbers. Swift reminder to the record companies too.

It is quite rare, luckily. Even the people behind the campaign (and Rage themselves) say it's not about Joe himself, which is fair enough really.

Correct. He is just the unlucky winner having to win at a time when the internet and some of the public have had enough and mobolised against Xfactor and Simons prepackaged hits.

It didn't happen last year to anywhere near the same extent but it was tried by the same organisers to get Jeff Buckleys version of Hallelujah to number 1 instead of Alexandras version and that got quite a lot of press (I joined that group at the beginning too), but no where near captured the same imagination or bandwagon as this one has.

It is strange just how big this has got; I bet the plans will already be in place for next year's track a lot earlier after this (hopefully Rusty Cage to get that Soundgarden reunion going...)

A cynical person may say that since both artists are run under Sony, some Sony execs may have encouraged this because they win whoever wins...

Just throw that out there :P

There was a site that linked to the Facebook group that was set up by a Sony A+R man (not sure if it's still there) but the husband and wife behind the group were swift to disassociate themselves from it. Sony are rubbing their hands with glee though, no doubt.

Jesus some of you people are spiteful *****. Campaign against the X Factor if you want, but insulting a guy you don't even know because he had the gall to be annoyed that people are campaigning against him is pathetic and shows up just how vindictive some morons on the internet are.

The vast majority of people who support this campaign, myself included, are not campaigning against Joe himself, but against the show and Simon Cowell. Of course, he has every right to have an opinion about the song that could stop him getting to #1 and I don't agree with the personal insults that some people make, but this campaign isn't focused directly at Joe himself.
