Poor contrast on EPG info (Foxsat HDR)

Just connected my father's HDR to a HDTV via HDMI and while the picture is fine, the EPG info is very hard to read - its as if the contrast is wrong. I've dug through the menus and there doesn't seem to be any settings for it

First question is if the EPG info is rendered differently over HDMI - don't remember it being like this via SCART - and the second question is if there's anything that can be done for it?

I find the EPG very clear and sharp over HDMI.

Maybe try altering the transparency setting so there is no picture behind it?

Menu > Settings > Other > OSD Transparency > Disable

Done that, its legible now, thanks.

Still seems to be clearer over SCART though!

EPG is perfect on mine, not a pixel out of place
Strange...if your picture quality is good in general! certainly scart is inferior (or should be)

If you are using the telly to upscale, the epg is a lower resolution, if you change the v-format to 1080i (rather than original) the epg is higher res. Some people find the HDR's upscaling is inferior to their tv's. Personally I can't tell the difference

I've always believed that cheap and expensive HDMI leads show no concernable difference in pq for what we use them for.Pretty sure we will get some comments on this.

Some time ago The Gadget Show set up two identical TV's with identical bluray players playing the same movie side by side. One had a £5.00 hdmi cable the other a £100.00 cable. No one could tell any difference whatosoever. Considering the digtal nature of the connection hardly very surprising.

HDR is outputting 1080 or at least should be.... I'll have a play with the settings later on to see if it does anything.

PQ is perfect, its just the EPG text.
