It's weird the way different winners are treated by the show:

Alesha seems to be the goddess at who's temple we must worship.

Jill is amazing, but you'd think she only ever did the jive.

Mark: as above, but he only did the AT & Salsa.

Tom & Goughie: I'm sorry, did they win? Are you sure it wasn't Rachel Stevens and Zoe Ball?”

I agree. And when they showed that bit about previous contestants favourite bits, they had winners Alesha, Ramps and...Austin...who finished 4th. Why is Austin treated as some kind of winner?

In a lot of people's eyes, he was plus he is on the Tour this year so they need to promote him, I guess.
I think in years to come, Ricky will have the same status.

Can't remember even seeing Matt (both of them) Gethin, Colin or Denise ever get to perform again as a special dance what was so special about last year's contestants? It just add to favourism claims for last year about Lisa and Rachel

Honestly can't remember Rachel winning last year must be like Susan Boyle!!!

Tom was treated terribly tonight. As for him saying he didn't have time to practice was he not talking about the Christmas special?

I don't have any problem with any past contestants coming back but not on the final and being treated like they won when they didn't.

Ricky and Chris will probably both be on the show for years to come

To be fair, he did get to dance first show of this series.

Twice would have been too much.

It's Tess's poor interviewing technique. She never listens to the answers, she looks like she is just thinking of the next (pre-prepared) thing to say, or else is listening to what the producer is saying in her ear piece.

In alot of people's eyes she was the real winner, and alot of people looking back admit she was the best dancer that series. But as tonight shows its not about being the best dancer.

I think its bang out of order that he didnt perform tonight (unless it was his choice).
Fair enough Camilla isnt here but so what? Gethin danced with Camilla too and hes still doing the christmas special (with Flavia).
Tom could have easily danced with Katya or one of the other pros tonight.
I really hope it was HIS choice not to dance and not the bbc just being rude and dismissing him for Lisa and Rachel.

I understand your point but the final is more important than the first night and has a lot more status and viewers.

Imagine if next year they have Ricky and Ali on the final night and Chris on the 1st - actually shouldn't say that as it will probably happen

Good point... that would have been a nice final touch to 'hand over' the trophy to the new winners.

People said the same about Colin Jackson.
I adore Colin and Rachel but wether people like it or not they didnt get the most votes in the finale!
So much for it being a public vote.
And if they do insist on letting 3rd place/2nd place (or even 4th) contestants dance on the show why not let someone like Matt Di Angelo (who is always there supporting Flavia) or Colin or Louisa who were very popular get a chance.
Im pleased Rachel and Austin are back for the xmas special however they didnt need to bring them back to dance on the live shows too! Another runner up could have got that chance.

Hand on heart kp, I woudn't find that odd or unfair!

Maybe Tess could have had a longer chat with Tom tonight, but I didn't think it too big a deal that he didn't get to dance again....

I'm sure others on this forum would though

My main problem was the interview but maybe it is just Tess' style I remember something similar happening last year with her interviews. She seems disinterest and like she was filling time more than anything else

I just think past contestants shouldn't be on the final unless they won - saying that if Ricky is on next year I might change my mind

I had forgotten , but I would still have liked to have seen it in the final.

I think that is spot in given she does it all the time!

Agree with you there, it would indeed have been very fittung

I wasn't in agreement with Tom as last year's winner but completely agree with you, Tess was very rude (and not for the first time with people she has sat next to - can't remember whom or when but she has done it before!!)

tom did this years tour

what i find strange is that i cant think of work that tom has had on a lot to not be able to pratice. he finished filming waterloo road weeks ago! his last episode airs in 3 weeks time.

i tweeted the bbc strictly team on twitter and asked if he was dancing. they said no cos he has been working on waterloo. i then tweeted the above back and they neve replied. fishy much?

i also was really annoyed with tess. what the hell were the other two people she talked to anything to do with strictly? and only speaking to tom for less than 10 seconds was even worse too!

they barely showed tom in the audience aswell. the only time i saw him was when tess spoke to him

I thought she was downright rude All it would have taken was 'I'm sorry I'm going to have to turn my back on you for a minute'. I said as much when I watched it. She spent ages yapping on to some boxer and Chris Moyles yet treated last years winner shabbily and spoke to him for what seemed like 30 seconds Not good Tess.

Yes, I thought it was a tad rude. Given how much padding the show had to have (2 hours for 4 competitive dances) they could have at least given him 30 seconds to talk about how much he's enjoyed watching it, remembers how nervewracking it can be etc etc. Or at least let him present the glitter ball. As it was Tess almost seemed to treat it as an inconvenience that he was in that part of the audience as it meant she had to waste time acknowledging him.

I know live TV is difficult, but that was poor.

So, not that different to the way they treated Tom when he was a contestant, really. Which was one of the reasons he won.

I agree , it looked very bad to have the champion of last years show more or less ignored for some random whoever and Chris Moyles
Tom looked lost and uneasy and no fuss made of him at all .I felt uneasy watching it and Tess hair was nearly in his mouth at one stage

That would be a nice touch to have the previous years winner hand over the glitterball. I thought he looked a bit lost and forlorn at the end on his own, it wasnt so much the lack of his dancing (as he had danced in the first show) it was the swift back turn that I didnt like.

I dont mind seeing dancers from pervious series that didnt win dance on the show I think its nice to see them back they all had fans ofcourse who will be pleased to see them

I think I might draw the line at Craig Kelly though.
