In my opinion, the best top 20 Christmas chart ever (1983) :-

1. Only You - Flying Pickets
2. My Oh My - Slade
3. Victims - Culture Club
4. Love Of The Common People - Paul Young
5. Marguerita Time - Status Quo
6. Hold Me Now - Thompson Twins
7. Tell Her About It - Billy Joel
8. Islands In The Stream - Kenny Rogers / Dolly Parton
9. Let's Stay Together - Tina Turner
10. Please Don't Fall In Love - Cliff Richard
11. What Is Love - Howard Jones
12. Move Over Darling - Tracey Ullman
13. Thriller - Michael Jackson
14. Uptown Girl - Billy Joel
15. 2000 Miles - Prentenders
16. Many Rivers To Cross - UB40
17. Read em and weep - Barry Manilow
18. That's All - Genesis
19. Straight Ahead - Kool & The Gang
20. Merry Xmas Everybody - Slade

Put the titles in to you tube, if you need reminding.

Can anyone find a better Christmas Top 20 then this?

Woah, comprehensive! That site's getting bookmarked.

My vote goes to '87:

01. Pet Shop Boys - Always On My Mind
02. The Pogues Featuring Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale Of New York
03. Comic Relief Presents Mel And Kim Performed By Kim Wilde And Mel Smith - Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree
04. Rick Astley - When I Fall In Love
05. Alison Moyet - Love Letters
06. Michael Jackson - The Way You Make Me Feel
07. Nat King Cole - When I Fall In Love
08. Belinda Carlisle - Heaven Is A Place On Earth
09. T'Pau - China In Your Hand
10. Shakin' Stevens - What Do You Want To Make Those Eyes At Me For
11. Simply Red - Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye
12. Jellybean Featuring Elisa Fiorillo - Who Found Who
13. Wet Wet Wet - Angel Eyes
14. Madonna - The Look Of Love
15. Johnny Hates Jazz - Turn Back The Clock
16. The Proclaimers - Letter From America
17. Alexander O'Neal - Criticize
18. George Harrison - Got My Mind Set On You
19. Jellybean - Jingo
20. New Order - Touched By The Hand Of God

Interesting to note nos. 4 and 7, parallels could be drawn between Alexandra Burke and Jeff Buckley sharing close chart positions last year.

Actually, 1987 is my 2nd best Christmas Top 20.

Where as in 1983 I taped the Radio 1 'Tommy Vance' top 40 (and still have it on CD), I bought 5 singles out of the 20 records in 1987.

1984 and 1985 were reasonably, 1986 was crap, 1988 and 1989 was also pretty good.

The last decent line up for Christmas was 1990 - or maybe I started to get older in the 90's!

Those were the days!
