Ricky is on Sky News just now and said he had a hernia for the last few weeks that held him back and a back spasm on the final night too.

He said he kept it quiet so he didn't get thrown off the show.

What do you think?

Poor loser my arse, the man was fantastic, he was robbed, the whole thing was a shame, handed on a plate to a pantomime dame of a dancer.. no worries Ricky, your the real winner and everyone knows it.

Very unfair.

Ricky could have played the sympathy card on the night if he'd wanted to but didn't.

Actually he had the ultimate sympathy card with all the problems he's had with his damaged leg (broken in 7 places, steel rod in it) but never did the entire series so I don't think you can accuse him of making excuses.

Dont count me into your "everyone " and speak for yourself please .
Chris was the majoritys choice and there is no other way of looking at it .

He lost a popularity contest, not the dancing competition. Head judge Len said that Ricky was the best dancer in the competition, whether or not he won the vote.

Ricky is the winner of the dance contest.
Chris is the winner of the popularity contest.

I'm not bothered.

youcandoit posted the article in the appreciation thread last night. Far from being a sore loser, it actually made me admire his achievement even more. He must have been under tremendous pressure and it confirmed to me that he really did enjoy dancing on SCD.

Quite so - and I sincerely hope that the 'majoritys' get exactly what they deserve in next year's show - even if, in deference to the Trades' Descriptions Act, the name has to be changed to 'Strictly Come Clowning'!

I am not really bothered what it called , I watch it on a dark wet winter evening and it uplifts me .
I love it and enjoy it and loved the result , so they can call it "Alfie " if they like .,!!

The voice of the people speaks. But not for me and the thousands if not millions who voted for him!!!!!!

If either the hernia or the back spasm had been serious - there is no way that he would have been able to produce a showdance like he did last night.

With either condition - lifting of heavy objects is a no-no and with both together he wouldn't have been able to move.

Yes - I have had both conditions and with back spasm alone I could barely move let alone dance energetically and lift a large human above my head several times.

The man CAN dance and yes he was the best DANCER the competition has seen in a long time - but he didn't have the personality/ likeability factor which guaranteed success with the public. Chris ended up being able to dance, perform and connect with the audience and it was his success with the latter 2 which won him the crown

Of course he had a hernia, silly.
It's well known that the most oft prescribed treatment for a hernia is twirling a 5'6" woman around your head.

We've seen both blokes looking seriously worn out this week, so I think it is commendable that they both managed show-stopping routines. My favorite SCD final to date.

Must agree! Begs the question, why did they do the lifts in that case?

Totally agree with you, Ricky had all the personality of a fossilized plank. Yes, he was the better dancer, but I think most of us have now realised that both X-Factor and Strictly are entertainment shows, and Chris and Ola were much more entertaining. I was actually quite impressed with Chris last night, he really went for it, so fair play to him.

They may have been entertaining to you but I was bored by them

Gosh, I liked them and you didn't! What an amazing thing.

Never mind, perhaps you'll get something you like next time round, eh?

If Ricky Whittle's back had been in spasm there would have been no way on earth he could have performed to that level or move so lightly on his feet and from that you can draw your own conclusions.

I have coped with spasms for years and when in spasm I cannot walk and if he even attempted to lift Natalie he would really be in Cloud Cuckoo Land . Ricky, in my opinion, either is out for attention or has inflammation of the imagination or, possibly, both.

Quite - it's in all the medical journals. My wife works for a Rheumatology consultant, and often has to type letters to GP's telling them the exact shape and size of woman to twirl. If he DOES have all those injuries it would not be possible to even contemplate doing what he did. He's starting to sound like whining sore loser to me now.

I suppose Ricky fan's don't multiple vote then?

I agree he's one of the better dancers we have seen, and I don't want to detract from that. He should be rightly proud of his achievement. But at the end of the day, he might be Colin Jackson's technical equal, but doesn't have on eighth of an ounce of the spark Colin brought to the dance. During his show dance I was frantically rewinging to get the number to ring in for Chris. He did nothing for me, and obviously for many others too.

That's the way the cookie crumbles in SCD.
