I am having a problem with the Foxsat HDR 1.0.12 upgrade. I managed to upgrade the loader to 7.53 via a USB stick, so the mechanism works, but when I try with the 1.00.12 which I downloaded I get an error E-HF which I take to be a corrupt file.

However when I try to download it again, each of my many tries results in a file truncated at anywhere between 5 and 7 MB.

So is there any way to get this file other than from the official Humax site?

Can someone tell me the exact size of the file in bytes so that I can verify that it is complete, should I ever manage to download it?

It has been two days since I upgraded the loader so it has had ample time to perform the upgrade OTA, but it fails to do so. I am running it with only one cable so it could not have upgraded itself before changing the loader.

An attempt at "Software Update - Automatic update" results in "New software not found".

Any ideas?

Do you have the Tuner 1 out to tuner 2 in link cable installed ?

E-HF means the file is not in the correct HDR file format.

Win7 reports v12 is 8,040,640 bytes, taking 8,044,544 bytes on disk.

I've downloaded it twice today, successfully, using Firefox 3.5.6, to check the download for another forum member.

savvy: Yes I saw the "not in the correct HDR file format" meaning, but the only interpretation I could see was that there is an error in the downloaded file. Do you see something else which might be wrong?

Just tried downloading once again and it stopped after 5.7MB with firefox 3.5.6. I have also tried with IE with the same result, and on two other pc's, and with a different ISP.

The first one I downloaded, and which seemed to be complete is indeed 8,040,640 bytes, and that is the one which gives the E-HF error.

I would like this upgrade, but it seems very difficult.

What does the file look like in bytes on your USB stick? It may have become corrupt in the transfer from PC to USB if you did not remove it safely? Did you leave the Loader file on the same USB stick at the same time, so it renamed it xxxxxxx(1)?

Your box should get the OTA successfully if you have the new Loader, and the LNB cable Loop - is this securely connected with the F-Connector nuts tight from LNB1-Out to LNB2-In?

What software do you have on the box now? If it is 1.00.02 or earlier, it won't upgrade OTA, even with the new Loader.

I did a file comparison between the file on the usb stick and the file on the pc and got 0 differences.

Nevertheless I deleted the files on the usb stick and recopied the upgrade (taking great care to "safely remove" it) and tried again. Now I get error E-ID - system id error.

It is still possible that there is something wrong with the file, since I am unable to download it again. I obtained a CRC-32 check sum (as shown by 7-zip and pkunzip) of 831b669a for Foxsat-HDR_Upgrade_10012.hdf.

Could someone please confirm this value?

If that is ok I shall have to assume that it does not like this USB stick. It seems very fussy. Of the four that I have only the 8GB gets as far as the update screen. It is the one I used to upgrade the loader. My 32MB, 256MB and 4GB all fail in different ways before getting to the upgrade screen. (All four work with the file manager).

As regards the versions, the Diagnostics screen gives 1.00.02, whereas the upgrade screen (when I manage to get to it) says 1.00.03. So which have I got?

You have got 1.00.02, the software upload screen does have some strange info sometimes, the Diagnostics screen is correct.

So, you won't get it OTA, you need to update via USB.

I've been helping some others on a different forum on this where they couldn't download it successfully, and they solved it by downloading it at a different location; can you go to a friend/relative house and try to download it? Otherwise, if your ISP gives you a dynamic IP address you could try rebooting your Router, and try downloading from your, now different, IP address.

If the box doesn't like your USB sticks, have you got any SD Cards and a USB Card reader? Bizarrely, people have found it likes these better

Finally I tried installing the 1.00.11 version which I had downloaded earlier. I did not want this version because of the bugs introduced in it, but following your comments on the versions, I though it might allow the OTA upgrade.

So, somewhat confounding my earlier conclusions, it installed ok from the same usb stick.

It then did indeed allow me to do an OTA Software Update to 1.00.12.

So it is there at last.

Perhaps one cannot upgrade from version 02 to version 12 directly ???

I don't what happened, but I'm glad it worked.

I did mention in post #5 that the OTA will not work from .02 to .12 (or to.11 come to that).

But, doing it manually via USB, you can go to and from any version with no restrictions, even backwards.
