Imaginary girlfriend. Is he gay? Seems pretty nasty to me. Implies he is a liar (nothing wrong with being gay, by the way, but the way it was phrased in the OP implied deceit).

I honestly thought it was a tongue in cheek post . I found it fairly amusing (although I can see why perhaps you could take offense if you thought the OP was picking on Chris), and thanks to Camino, I think my new answer to people asking me if I have a boyfriend is going to be, "Well, I DO have an imaginary boyfriend but secretly I'm gay." . It beats the boring truth lol!

I'm not being rude but I was going to post on the ITT thread when I saw her. Maybe I was confusing her with his sister but, either way I thought there was a family resemblance.

I agree. Different colouring but very similar faces/eyes etc.

I guess we all see different things! My family and friends never see the same likenesses as me, so you are probably right!

It was nasty - as are loads of threads on this website. Par for the course I am afraid.

I really thought that was his sister!

I thought the same thing as the OP.

His girlfriend was mentioned but rarely seen. His mum also mentioned him having a girlfriend in a very odd/forced way.

I was surprised when she appeared on ITT.

When you get to my age, you'll have seen dozens of married couples who resemble each other. Inner vanity in one the partners, perhaps, or just "sticking with what you know"?

Ah right, thanks for that information. Coz, you know, I'd thought that being gay was just horribly wrong and should be banned.

And I'd assumed that "nasty rumour" meant "gay is nasty". Silly me.

His gf has kept a v low profile, I guess being in the public eye is not for some people. Even so, I thought it was unusual for the camera never to pan to her in the audience.
My husband and I did wonder if his close male friend on the VT on ITT could be his real partner and the gf clip was just for the public.
Of course it does not matter but sadly many celebs still feel the world is not ready for them to admit they are gay (not that there is any real evidence Chris is of course)
Anyway, I should probably stop thinking about this topic and leave Chris and his gf to it as it just highlights the fact I need to get a life lol.

The girlfriend question's been answered already, but the implication that someone has to be gay if they don't have an obvious straight o/h is unpleasant and plain ignorant.

In addition, Chris used to go out with Carrie Davis, who reads the Sport on the Chris Moyles Show on Radio 1.

You got your explanation in in a very polite and succinct way. The implication of the original post was nasty IMHO as yes it implied deceit and or attempted to force an outing. My personal opinion is that you are being a tad oversensitive indeed there is nothing wrong with being gay or heterosexual seems a fair enough statement.

Psychologists might argue it's nothing to do with vanity. People are often attracted to partners who resemble their primary attachment figures - usually their parents, and therefore look like themselves.

They do! In fact when I saw her on SCD (in the audience) I thought she was his sister. She looks nice though

*realises in horror that I've grown up to be the spitting image of my first boyfriend's mother *

I've been studying for a post-grad in psychology and from studying evolutionary psychology I've come to agree that we often look for partners who have similarities to ourselves which we want to pass on to our offspring. Two of my exes have both been mistaken for my brother, one's mother was asked if we were twins and, whilst I've never been attracted to anyone who closely resembles either of my parents, the "type" of guy I tend to go for is actually the same kind of colouring as myself (dark hair and big brown eyes, mediterranean looking). Hmmm, interesting (yet freaky) discussion ...

My ex husband and I were often mistaken for brother & sister. It took me a while to suss out that he was the dead spit of my father - as I am.

Then daylight dawned - all of my exes have had black hair and blue eyes, and all have looked like my father (and, by extension, myself). Narcissism or what?!

Chris and his gel certainly look very alike, don't they?

I missed this VT - what close male friend?

I hold up my hand and say on looking more closely Sarah does look like his Mum and sister, but with blonde hair!
