RATM are donating all proceeds to charity.

Cowell, will you do the same?
Rage will make this up - and more, with all the free publicity they got during this campaign.

Can it be read online Stoatie?
Don't think it's been posted yet... I can PM it you if you want. The site (Freq) is being rejiggered, or whatever the technical term is... should be online soon (especially given the way he's hassling me for my missed deadlines!), but can PM.

I detest Cowell. I detest the type of musical pablum that he promotes. And I detest the X-Factor and its ilk. So I am glad to see 'Joe' isnt no 1.

Yet I cant stand RATM either....

Im pretty sure Mr Cowell does ok out of a RATM number 1.
Simon isn't Rage's label - Sony are. Syco is Simon's label.

Really? I get a lot of freebies, and it's the first time I've seen it happen... I'm glad it's common, though. Maybe the bands I usually get freebies for are usually stingy. Wouldn't surprise me, actually; they're usually quite nasty. I was glad NMA did it, though. They're probably my favourite band ever, and it kind of reaffirmed my faith in them, if it had ever been flagging.

(In case anyone from their management is reading this- YES, MY REVIEW WAS VERY GOOD. FREE STUFF AGAIN, PLEASE. WILL MAKE DONATIONS).
Yeah, although I always thought it was the venue rather than the band that organised it. I might be wrong but I've been asked several times at some venues and never at others (even though I've seen the same band at both).

Anyway, sorry for taking this off topic people.

Nah, it was made very clear on Thursday that it was NMA themselves. God, I love that band. Thirty years in the biz and they're still as angry and righteous as ever.

Also back on-topic- glad it's Shelter both times- I'm now, being really skint, in the unpleasant position of having to cancel my fifteen quid a month donation to them for the foreseeable. So it's good to know they're getting a bonus.

Simon isn't Rage's label - Sony are. Syco is Simon's label.
According to the BBC its "Rage Against The Machine are signed to Epic Records, which is part of Sony BMG, the same label as McElderry."

So its the same company, different branch.

I'm glad RATM won. It just goes to show that the x factor winners can't go around thinking they have a divine right to get to #1 at Christmas.

I see the Joe fans are blubbing away in their special little Joe thread on the x factor forum. Everyone who bought the RATM single is spiteful, and apparently Joe will have the last laugh when he gets to #1 next week. Not sure how they work that one out.

Joe's song was crap. What was that muppet Cowell thinking when he chose a Miley Cyrus song? Joe will more than likely be one of these flopped x factor winners, a bit like Steve Brookstein and Shayne West. He'll do an album and then everyone will forget who he is.

Are you a bit upset SULLA?

Let's face it, that Hannah Montana cover is abysmal.

I'd love it if it became a tradition to have a really abrasive song at number 1 every Christmas. This year RATM, next year Whitehouse...

maybe Merzbow and Alec Empire for the 2011 dream team?

I don't think you should go around making sheep noises at him. The only sheep are the ones who go out and buy the x factor single. People who didn't even want Joe to win go out and buy his single. The RATM campaign was about people wanting something different for christmas. People had to get together on this or it wouldn't have worked. It's lovely to have a x factor free christmas for once.

How about a song by AnalCunt next year?

Don't even know if they are still going but I was into them when I was going through puberty and enjoyed mindless music lol

Pardon?

You are saying that all people who dislike Cowell enough to try to thwart his world domination are sheep?

Balls to that.

The sheep are the eejits who blindly watch Xfactor every week and then religiously buy the pointless, manufactured single every Christmas.

This was a victory for the non-sheep of the world and the only way it could have been done is by selecting one song and buying it en masse.

It's fantastic news for the charts and music.

Joe is bland.

I recommend "Bonehead" by Naked City: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXcgg7WC7LI

Would be good, but I think Whitehouse need a shot first.

My favourite AC track is still "You Converted To Judaism So A Guy Would Touch Your Dick". Or possibly "If You Don't Like The Village People You're F****** Gay".

First time I've listened to the chart in years, was very exciting.
Glad Rage are number 1.

Even funnier when you think the facebook campaign used exactly the same tactics that Cowell uses.
