Panasonic DMREZ25 DVD Recorder HDMI issue
I am looking for advice about the HDMI connection of the Panasonic DMR EZ25 DVD recorder. The unit, which I accept is getting on a bit, acts as a hub between devices and I also make use of the built in Freeview tuner. I've recently connected it to an LCD TV via HDMI. The screen struggles on progressive formats (lower screen judders on movement) and is only really happy with a 1080i signal. I've attempted to change the output of the Panasonic recorder to 1080i, but it seems stuck on 'automatic'. The LCD screen shows that it is receiving a 576p image. All of the other HDMI options on the Panasonic are greyed out and I can't select them. All I want to do is force the Panasonic DVD to output a 1080i signal. I've tried three HDMI cables ranging from 1m to 1.5m in length. The LCD screen can accept a 1080i image (it used to be linked to SkyHD). I hope all of this makes sense and any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks in advance. |

having an HDMI connection doesnt mean the unit will output above normal DVD SD resolution - does the manual say it should - there might be an upscaling setting you need ot change to get this working.
here's a link to the manual http://tda.panasonic-europe-service....rqtd0209-b.pdf the spec for this says the HDMI supports 720p and 1080i, so i guess its a setting you need somewhere although looking through this, i cant see anything where it mentions changing the HDMI profile (if thats the right expression) |

Thanks so much for the link. There are options to change the output resolution when connected via HDMI: 576i / 576p / 720p / 1080i and automatic - but all of them are greyed out with the exception of automatic, which only seems to want to push 576p. Time to read the manual methinks. Many thanks again for your help. If anyone else has encountered similar, I'd love to know how you sorted it.
