Why do people who don't like Lady Gaga's music always attack her looks?

She never claims to be a perfect looking girl!

Any thread she is mentioned in some hater starts attacking her looks or saying that shes a tranny ( which she is clearly not )

No-one's saying you have to like her , but it makes you look very shallow to criticize her looks!

For the record , I think she is a really beautiful, quirky looking girl

Because it's an easy target? The same way that some people will criticise a girlband for 'dressing like sluts' or whatever...

I guess yeah , but I really don't think she is ugly at all and don't know why people would think to pick on that so much

I've noticed that...I actually think she's pretty though, I like her features, especially her eyes.

Because music has become so much about churning out the latest flawless looking but ultimatey bland poptart, that when someone like Lady Gaga comes along they go on the attack.

I give her full credit for her music videos trying to be different to what we have seen before. But Lady Gaga is a very ugly looking woman, who lacks a personality to boot.

I'd like to defender her by saying she is eccentric, but in fact she is just plain stupid. Her music is god damn awful and has the looks of a Rhinos backside.

She may not be the next Madonna or Brittney Spears, but as long as you lot like her I will respect your opinions.

I was thinking the same. Just read through a thread and there's always some idiot that has to mention that they find her incredibly ugly or say things like "he/she"

Because they find it difficult to actually give constructive criticism and instead decide to attack the one thing that comes to their heads first - her image. She's not the best looking girl in the world, but she certainly isn't the worst either. And to say I have heard the "she's a man!" thing so many times would be an understatement. What's also funny is that people who say it, think they're being original and are amongst the first people to do so.

Funny really. I don't like many artists, but I have better things to do with my time than insult their looks.

She clearly isn't stupid.

She's spent some time wearing things over her head, so I guess she knows she not that great looking.

Why should it be about her looks. In the 70's it never used to be about the looks. It was always about the talent. If you get hyped up in looks you go far. Hyped up looks is better than hyped up talent it seems. Even if you have the talent/looks. It's always looks that wins the game.

They usually attack the looks and then call her talentless, so it's easy to ignore because they are clearly just dimwits.

A woman who writes her own songs, can sing, can dance and can play instruments is talentless these days according to some people. It's laughable and kinda pathetic really.

Yeah but here not so much...

Linky....

and that is what she used to look like. She's had tons of plastic surgery to look the way she does today so I guess she highlights what's wrong with the Pop Industry...

If her wiki page is to be belived she certainly as writing skills but I have seen several interviews with her and she is either cosntantly stoned, drunk or just as thick as Pig Proverbial. Just because she has become a "success" doesn't make her smart or even a savvy business woman as pop artist are more like puppets who rely on the genious of their puppeteer's (in her case her manager/promoter).

What bothers me about her, and as a man I might sound a bit like a feminist here, is her obsession with being attractive to men and doing it in the wrong way. I see so many "Lady Gagas" when I go out, average looking girls who compete by showing more skin and think being a slag makes them attractive to men (well it does but not for the right reasons).

I don't mind her. I like her quirkiness.

Her music isn't my type of thing though.

Well to pick it apart, her songs sound very similar and the 'strength' of them is in the production which isn't her (personally I think they sound dreadful, but the thing that people like about them is the production IMO). I don't mind that she uses a good producer, in fact she'd be stupid not to, but it is bought in.

I don't like her voice particularly, and her dancing is nothing spectacular.

Finally, she has built a huge amount of her success on her image, and I find it boring and like a child trying to be "outrageous"

She has a talent for self promotion (like Madonna or early Britney) but I don't think she has the songs to back it up

How many people listen to a song they like and think the thing they really like about it the most, is the production?

I think the songs themselves are a much bigger part of why people like her.

They might not be to everyones taste (nor mine), but that doesn't mean other people can't have legitimate reasons to like her music.

Ofcourse, and I don't hugely mind people liking her, but I also can see why someone might say 'oh, she's talentless' and mean it without bothering to explain why, and that's pretty much what they'd say

I don't like a lot of her music, but she is a very pretty girl. She looks too much like barbie in that pic though.

I only like her early music. All the gems left off of her album like Red And Blue, Let Love Down and No Floods.

I'm fairly sure that that picture has been doctored.

You can see her pre-GaGa footage of her on Youtube performing at small talent shows and on one of those candid camera MTV shows, and her face doesn't look like that.

I'd get into the rest... but I'm sleepy.

Lady GaGa doesn't come across as being particularly stupid to me.I don't think she is that creative or have any depth compared to the type of music I like - she is definately in the pop / celebrity end of the media world. She does come across as having alot of knowledge of music in general but the output I've heard only concentrates on a very narrow area of pop.
Part of her appeal is very much about her image though. This image is not based on beautiful looks though which seems to be the norm in celebrity / pop.She has used the art of dressing up similar to the Glam rock era which she definely has an interest in (Bowie).
Although you could say she has the unique-factor in todays terms. She does come over as very superficial to me and her musical outputs reflect this but there does seem to be some sort of genuine talent hidden under there, it is a shame she doesn't want to bring out this little bit of talent she has & not blend in to the bland pop/celebrity image led media world.
