about the number one spot and the charts?

I mean, if you like a song - go buy it.
If you don't, then don't buy it.
Not everyone will agree with you - face it.

The artist will get money either way.

Let's just all relax and enjoy Christmas

I agree with you
I don't give a damn whos No1 or No2, I just like listening to what I like.
At the mo im loving Mumford&sons winter winds, and I don't think many people have heard of it which makes it a little more special

I guess it's because say if a singer keeps charting low it indicates that the act is not selling well, which could lead to the act maybe being dropped.

I don't usually. Which is why I already considered it all success long before the announcement of the chart. The #1 just made it even sweeter still.

1. I love the band, so promoting their music and seeing them do well was a good enough reason.

2. It had a strong charitable element.

3. Competition is fun.

4. In my opinion, it became a battle between art and karaoke. By presenting X-Factor music as "uncool", it might in some very small way encourage kids to become real musicians instead of aspiring to become glorified karaoke singers.

5. It provoked Rage to come out of retirement/hiatus and promise a new gig. I hope that it might just lead to a new album.

6. There is a completely bizarre, surreal humour in Rage Against the Machine hijacking the charts out of nowhere to end up as Christmas #1.
