Female fronted rock bands.
What are your favourites, mine are:
Evanescence Lacuna Coil Delain Flyleaf Nightwish Bif naked The reason why I'm interested is because Scuzz had a female special at the weekend. |

...here's some that I like, some 'rock', some not:
The Breeders Yeah Yeah Yeahs Broadcast Cocteau Twins Electrelane L7 Babes in Toyland Sidi Bou Said Goldfrapp Joan Jett and the Blackhearts M.I.A. CSS Minipop North Sea Radio Orchestra Rachel Unthank/The Unthanks Mazzy Star Kate Bush Girlschool The Fiery Furnaces Luscious Jackson Le Tigre Patti Smith Tori Amos PJ Harvey Portishead The Pretenders The Runaways Siouxsie & The Banshees Sleater-Kinney The Slits The Raincoats St. Etienne Veruca Salt (some are no more, some are strictly speaking 'solo artists', but play with a band and everything, so I've erred on the side of inclusiveness.) |

(The Gathering - you cannot leave these out as they were such a large influence of 3 of middle 4) Evanescence Lacuna Coil Delain Flyleaf Nightwish Bif naked The reason why I'm interested is because Scuzz had a female special at the weekend. Don't now Bif naked or Flyleaf - I don't think they are in the Goth/Symphonic rock genre - cannot comment about. Most of those bands have become a little stereo typed to the genre.'90's stuff much better, although the Delain (project) is quite good. You seriously must check out Anneke van Giersbergen / The Gathering though if you haven't already. |

Potentially the best one ever, could have been Supernova, fronted by Dilana. If only the boys in the band had not been intimidated by her quality. The chose someone - as a lead singer - who looked like their pupil, and as a result, failed to achieve lift-off.

That list indicates a slight ignorance in the area of rock music.Where are the Gathering who vertially started the movement - even before Lacuna Coil who they influenced alot (although they have gone on a nu-metal direction since).I'll now add them to list.

![]() Few more... 1. Daisy Chainsaw and Queenadreena. (Frontwoman- KatieJane Garside) ( Why haven't they been mentioned yet? It's as if KatieJane temporarily falls out of existence every time a thread or list like this comes up! I know these bands aren't very well known, the latter especially, but come on...) 2. The Birthday Massacre. (Frontwoman- Chibi) 3. Onmyouza (Frontwoman (alongside a Frontman, but still)- Kuroneko) 4. Inugami Circus Dan. (Frontwoman and founder- Kyouko) 5. The Scissor Sisters (Backup vocalist- Ana Matronic) (Do they count? Ana's only on backup vocals and they aren't strictly rock) A couple of all-female bands: 1. Exist Trace (Frontwoman- Jyou) (Other members- Omi + Miko on guitars, Naoto on bass, and Mally on drums) 2. Show-ya (Frontwoman- Either Keiko Terada, Stephanie Borges or Yoshino, depending on what year you're in) ( Other members- Miki Igarashi on guitar, Satomi Senba on bass, Miki Tsunoda on drums and Miki Nakamura on keyboards) I'll also give Fiction (Frontwoman- Lucifer Luscious Violenoue) a mention, but I'm don't know much about them, so wouldn't know where to put them.
