Why do Xmas songs still sell into new year?

This happens every year, but I still wonder why Christmas songs drop slowly out of the chart. Surely noone wants to listen to. let alone buy, Christmas songs after Christmas

So who in there right minds buys them in January?

Bizzare. A Christmas single should go from no. 5 in the Christmas chart to about no. 600 the week after.
I have about 150 various Christmas songs on my ipod, but come Boxing Day I'll be "un-ticking" them until next year.

Come on, one of you must be able to admit to getting one and actually playing it after Christmas and the New Year

You do realise christmas day is just the START of christmas?Christmas officially ends on 6th january (hence the 12 days of christmas)...maybe this is why?

Do they really go on selling after Christmas??? They must be on firesale prices
