Over 500 artists have performed in the Live Lounge and over 2 months, Radio 1 listeners have whittled down the acts in a series of rounds culminating in a three way final:

30 Seconds to Mars vs Florence and The Machine vs Will Young

And the winner is.......

30 Seconds to Mars covering Kanye West's 'Stronger'

The cover: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJu770gscW8
The original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsO6ZnUZI0g

Great cover! NO multi voting was allowed in the final so the result is a fair representation of each person who voted.

2nd Will Young covers OutKast's 'Hey Ya'
3rd Florence and the Machine covers Beyonce's 'Halo'

Confused why certain covers didn't make it? Here is the run down of who knocked out who.

I don't think that live version was a patch on the original Live lounge performance though.

Right result! As soon as I heard about the competition I knew there could be only one winner (in my opinion, of course!) and that was 30 Seconds to Mars.

This is what I though too, they don't have the original recording video on Youtube probably because it was so long ago I felt the same about Leona's - loved her 'Run' she recorded in the Live Lounge but the recorded version didn't have the same magic.

Here is Will's Live Lounge Hey Ya, the only one I could find, officially second best Live Lounge ever

I was suprised Will made the top 3 and Leona didn't.

I wanted Flo to win so what a poor winner. Oh well.

Solely because the competition was well under way, definitely into round 2 when Jay performed this cover. Otherwise I'm sure it would have been in there

Same here - totally blew me away when I first heard it because I wasn't really paying attention.

It drew me in and I was fixated on the Radio until Jo Whiley said who it was and i couldn't believe it.

Bought it off itunes about 5 seconds later

My personal favourites would be

Arctic Monkeys-Love Machine/You Know I'm No Good
Kate Nash-Flourescent Adolescent
Jamelia-Numb
Biffy-Umbrella
Charlotte Church-Let Me Love You
Natasha Bedingfield-Chasing Cars/The Scientist
Jamie T-If I were a Boy
Florence and the Machine-Halo
Kooks-Crazy
Adele-Last Night.

But My ultimate winner would have to be Leona with Run. That performance made me stop the car because I had goosebumps (and I'd wanted The McDonald Bros to win X Factor so wasn't really a fan, especially after she butchered Kelly Clarkson's Winners single!) for me it was a faultless performance, full of emotion and just bloody brilliant really (A million miles away from the soulless, emotionless production Simon Cowell stamped onto it to ruin the studio version of the same song)

Im so glad Florence didnt win. I love her album, but that version of Halo is seriously shockingly bad.
